My new Steinhauser PMX 100 just turned up. WOW. There really is a massive difference over my old earphones. Huge bass increase and crisper sounds. However, they bleed noise really badly. I'm going to feel a right arsehole on the train with these on.

How about we compromise with a

Yup, you're ruined. It's really cool seeing people get introduced to good sound, once you get a taste of it, you can never go back. Now we just gotta hook you up with a Grado RS-1 and a nice vacuum tube headphone amplifier.

We? You proposing on helping to fund in this investment?
Now that I've listened with the Grado and I still need isolating phones since the Grado suck on that end, I don't think lower end IEMs like the Shure E2C will be sufficient and headphone.com didn't give them too much credit either. Hmm, should I spend two hundred bucks on the Shure E4C? Heh, I could've gotten the SR225 at that point...

Yea, my Grado does the same thing but it's to be expected, really.
P.S. - It's Sennheiser although Steinhauser does sound like a cool name for a headphone brand.

How about I get an amp that doesn't color the sound of what I'm listening to?

Well, if you can tolerate the things being jammed into your ear canal, they're well worth it. Unlike earbuds which sit on the mouth of the ear, the Shure E4C goes into the ear canal like a set of those foam earplugs. Some people don't mind it, some can't stand it. I've heard the E4C, they are sweet, if you like the SR60, chances are you'll love the E4C.

I don't know about you, but I'm
preparing for the nuclear apocalypse. Tubes laugh at EMP, power spikes, and brownouts, all of which can easily fry a transistor amp. Plus vacuum tubes
look a hell of a lot fucking cooler.

Yea, I'm thinking about giving IEMs another try and that the Koss Plug that I tried to use was just junk. Shure has a demo dealer in the city thankfully so I hope I can try them over the weekend.

Yes, you will have your mighty tube amps with no power to run them

In the event of a nuclear apocalypse, I'm going to have bigger things to worry about. Such as avoiding dying.

I believe Aerius' intention is to die while listening to music.
Edit 2/4/2007: The Grado makes for great earmuffs!
