the Original Bubblegum Crisis was great, the remake BubbleGumCriise:2030 while having better animation had terrible music and a much lamer plot.

My vote is for Space Battleship Yamato, its a great classic sci-fi anime series that demonstrates what the early animators were thinking before the anime+toy-soul=profit formula became king

Of course FireFly was a great post-apocalypic setting if you squint right

If you're bringing in Judge Dredd, don't forget that in addition to the 'original' nuclear war that caused the Cursed Earth, you have the Mega City 1-East Meg 1 Apocalypse War, as well as Necropolis caused by Judge Death, the Dark Judges and the Sisters of Death as well as numerous other incidents.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Don't forget Cowboy Bebop. That whole universe is shaped by the Gate Disaster that devestated Earth and wiped about 80% of the human race a century previous to Spike's time.

I'm feeling some nostalgia for The Chronicles of Dorian Hawkmoon, a series of Eternal Champion novels set in a distant future of high science and low tech barbarism where the monstrous empire of Granbretan seeks to conquer the whole world and an oath sworn on the Runestaff has dire consequences.

How about The Stand? I mean, as long as I know to avoid Las Vegas and Boulder, I should be OK. I could carve out my own little country somewhere, maybe down in the Florida Keys.
