IMO that spindly thing is an elench ship. The thing in the distance that looks like a solid box is a GCU. IMO it fits better with the culture ship on the cover of Look to windward, which is also a solid silver block.
Good point, The Look of the GSV on the Windward cover is the sam style as the Phlebas cover ship so it would fit in with the small Silver ship just visible on the Excession cover. Good catch, thanks.

This is the cover to my book.

This, I presume, is the cover to your book.

And this is the cover to an international edtion I found on the Net.

All very utalitarian, but the editions Necron and I are talking about have a theme of mirror finish sculptured ships for the Culture (though I was a bit confused by the other ship on the cover of Excession).

Here is the Uk cover for Excession, the two silver dots against the planet are the Culture vessels.

This is the US cover, I think that's meant to be a Torturer Class.

And this is the UK cover for Look to Windward, again a sculptured Mirror finish design.

Hope that helps.

I have the US cover of Excession, and my Look to Windward cover just depicts a bunch of people standing around a statue.

And I have a different Consider Phlebas cover, as well. It depicts an orbital, see from the outside, and it's quite thick, very unlike the one depicted above.

This is the only other cover picture I could find for Consider Phlebas, and it's French.
