It's probably a WoW expansion they are going to announce.

At one time there was actually going to be an adventure game based on Warcraft. It was also outsourced and canned for what seem to be very similar reasons Ghost was canned.Surlethe wrote:I'll believe it May 19, and even then I'll be skeptical after what happened to Ghost.
After the fiasco with how long The Burning Crusade took to finally release and even now, nearly 5 MONTHS after it went live, the fact that certain chunks of it STILL aren't complete, Blizzard wouldn't dare announce another WoW expansion. They'd be laughed out of he building.Flagg wrote:It's probably a WoW expansion they are going to announce.
They stated that they would be releasing a new update about once a year and IIRC recently confirmed their intention to continue with that.Kuja wrote:After the fiasco with how long The Burning Crusade took to finally release and even now, nearly 5 MONTHS after it went live, the fact that certain chunks of it STILL aren't complete, Blizzard wouldn't dare announce another WoW expansion. Oh come on Id totally play a WoS game if for no other reason than to personally fly a Wraith, or explore a Protoss carrier, etc. Of course it might also end up like Planetside which would sorta suck, but Id still give it a shotDarth Tanner wrote:If it turns out to be World of Starcraft I think I'll cry.
Oh hell yes. I can easily imagine playing a Protoss Zealot, having a great deal of fun tearing people apart with blades, and working my way into Templar territory.phred wrote:Oh come on Id totally play a WoS game if for no other reason than to personally fly a Wraith, or explore a Protoss carrier, etc. Of course it might also end up like Planetside which would sorta suck, but Id still give it a shot
It would probably be more like Eve online then WoW.Vympel wrote:World of Starcraft. Boy would that suck.

They wouldn't dare update things as big as Burning Crusade one a year. For one thing, they'd never be able to patch bugs, ever, if they updated that quickly, and second, if they kept releasing updates that often, A huge amount of the game would simply be bypassed and go unused.Flagg wrote:They stated that they would be releasing a new update about once a year and IIRC recently confirmed their intention to continue with that.Kuja wrote:After the fiasco with how long The Burning Crusade took to finally release and even now, nearly 5 MONTHS after it went live, the fact that certain chunks of it STILL aren't complete, Blizzard wouldn't dare announce another WoW expansion. Sounds like every other MMORPG I've ever played.Kuja wrote:They wouldn't dare update things as big as Burning Crusade one a year. Ashbringer is confirmed as a legendary weapon, not an artifact. Right now there are only two artifact weapons in the game and neither of them is available to the populace at large.Edward Yee wrote:And then, there's the question of keeping consistency with canon; there's a bottleneck I believe at which point gained stuff becomes less progressively kickass or it starts to deviate from what'd seem to be canon's ranking (for one, the rumored-of Ashbringer -- not sure why it should be Artifact, seeing as the lesser Legendary grade is already home to Medivh's staff).
Well, Illidan is already a boss, the final boss of the Black Temple, though Blizzard's made it pretty clear we won't be able to kill him, just send him into retreat. Northrend is rumored to be the centerpiece of a possible (read: "someday") future expansion, which will open up Icecrown and the Lich King. And then there's wondering how they implement Illidan and the Lich King...
I hope you're right, because I want StarCraft 2. Still, you figure with their usual long development time, announcing it next month would make sense if they plan to release it next summer.Ghost Rider wrote:Here I will agree with Kuja. Thinking Blizz will put a new expansion this soon because they have plans and made statements of such?
Sorry, not only would they be considered cranks, it'd probably go as well as anytime Sony chirped in about an MMO. The current expansion isn't even fully out. The latest PATCH brings in the part everyone clamored for in this expansion...the very fight they kept yabbering about, the very mounts they showed everyone.
Blizzard has lost many intelligent thoughts over the years but putting out a product even shoddier then the last is a guarantee to lose customers by the boatload, and is the last thing Blizz wants. They milk and bilk TBC well before they announce another expansion.
I reiterate: after the fiasco with Burning Crusade, they wouldn't dare move to release another expansion so quickly. Hell, from now til next summer would barely give most people enough time to explore all of TBC. Blizzard would lose out, tremendously.Flagg wrote:I hope you're right, because I want StarCraft 2. It depends on the kind of expansion they make. I doubt the next one will be almost exclusively for high level players like TBC is. I imagine the next expansion will add content for levels 30+, rather than just 1-10 and 60+. But we'll have to wait a few weeks to see. I hope it's not just a WoW expansion, but by no means am I going to be shocked if it is.Kuja wrote:I reiterate: after the fiasco with Burning Crusade, they wouldn't dare move to release another expansion so quickly. Fuck Ghost. That wasn't StarCraft anyway, it was console scum.DesertFly wrote:I will believe in Starcraft 2 when I am holding a boxed copy in my hands. Until then, it's as real as Ghost is.
The Burning Crusade itself isn't a fiasco, its release was. TBC was pushed back from its initial release date more than four times, for a delay of more than eight months--a year. And when they released it, some of the most important areas - the Black Temple, Zul'Aman, the Sunwell Plateau, etc - were still not ready and had to be kept closed for later release.Vympel wrote:Burning Crusade was a fiasco? Do tell. WoW amuses me these days.
Nope, just stating my opinion that PCs are superior gaming platforms.SAMAS wrote:Not more PC Fanboy whining...
Well, as far as I know, I havent even used the BC material yet. Im a 45 human lock, so its taking some itme.Edward Yee wrote:Sounds like it's better for a casual player to just stay with non-TBC WoW? *Is considering*
