Well, you're pbly not gg to recover your car fm the guy with the car-hauling truck. The dipshit that they pick up for hotwiring your car deserves a kick in the nuts just for being stupid. The guy with the truck at least get some grudging respect, even if his crime is worse and he deserves more time than the dipshit joyrider.

I can tell you from my own experience that door locks and keylocks will NOT stop even an amateur.... Nor does an alarm... (none of those things stopped me when I boosted a car a couple years ago...)

Things that would: kill switch, tazer in the steering column, trigger relay.

Stickdeath.com did two of their hillarious animations on this issue. You can find them in the Shocked archives.

Makin' sure.

Btw, boosting a car is the best friggin' adrenaline rush around... Just don't do it more than once if you are lucky enough not to get caught. If you want the whole story, just PM me, or ask in here.

Does the car have to survive intact?

If so, then a 2-foot spring loaded spike in the stearing column.

The goal is to leave your wheels in a drivable condition... (granted I like the thought of a highspeed bolt launcher projectile thru the back of the driver's seat sticking the perp to the control column...)

Right, so no thermite grenades rigged to the starter motor?

I'd say that the best thing would be something akin to KITT. Can't beat a car that outsmarts you :)

Yeah, sentient vehicle, kickass idea, till it decides it hates you when you forget to put in premium (or can't afford it).

1940: Asimov's Laws of Robotics

First Law:
A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law:
A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law:
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

One taken from StickDeath.com: Shitbag enters car and starts the engine. Suddenly, the car seals itself and floods the interior with water, drowning the shitbag. You can wash him out when you return.

It gives you a live video feed of the shitbag's face and you may turn on the audio at your discretion, or take remote control of the car. A good idea to use would be to tell the suspect to get out using the intercom that's on the remote control. Once he's running, take remote control of the car and use it to run him down!
This is already possible AFAIK. The car can be tracked via GPS and taking
control of the car is possible via mobile phone. You need some kind of
tracking system in some european countries if you want to get a insurance
police for your car(only for cars worth more than 50,000 euros).

We have those things here were I work. Little boxes for motorcycles. Bike gets swiped, the tracker picks up the signal and shuts that bad boy down.
