I love the way they state their beliefs as if they are empirical fact. It reminds me of Christians who state their beliefs as if they are as factual and objective as the colour of the sky.

Of course, the difference is that everyone is allowed to poke fun at these idiots even in "polite society" because they're a fringe religion, whereas Christianity is not. This forum is one of the few places you can call Christianity the childish delusional bullshit that it is, without getting banned.

Hell even if it could do it, which it can't, it wouldn't last long as Jupiter wouldn't have enough fuel to sustain the reaction. Also assuming it did ignite how much extra energy would actually get dumped on the earth. After all wouldn't the solar wind and such push the majority of the heat and radaition away from us.

Likely it would only appear a dull red radiating at around 1000 K up to maybe 1600 K. Color source here.

If they did, we'd have working deflector shields that can block EM radiation. As far as I know there's no way to block an electromagnetic ray except with a piece of matter. You mean particle emission like the Solar Wind? Any Jupiter-wind would be the least of our worries, and I don't think the feeble radiation would be much of one either.

They are probably narcissists with overinflated egos to compensate for the fact that as a child, they were brought to a planetarium or some other science exhibit by a beloved uncle. But then, the planetarium was empty and instead, the child was raped by the beloved uncle repeatedly, using the various planetary mock-ups as gags for the mouth, or for insertion in the body's many orifices. The only one who saw this incident aside from the child and the surrogate-parent authority figure was a scientist, and despite the child's pleas, the scientist just laughed at him (or her).

This traumatic experience then is repressed by the subconscious and made manifest after puberty or during adolescence with obsession in planetary psuedoscience and astrology. Had the scientist not been an observer, or had the scientist actually helped the poor molested child, then the child would've grown to appreciate the valor of science, imprinted firmly in his or her subconscious, and grown up to be an astronaut, astronomer, or a septic tank cleaner.

Freudian psychiatry is good. Astrology is stupid.

Hypotetically speaking...even if Jupiter by an act of powers unknown would start becoming a star, how long would it actually take before any kind of light would be emitted from it? My knowledge is somewhat spotty, but I read that it would be a somewhat long time...

Freudian bullshit aside, if it becomes a brown dwarf star or whatever they call it, not much light (when compared to other types of stars) will come out. Or, that's what I learned from Isaac Asimov's Nemesis.

Actually, the lifetime of a star burning is proportional to approximately 1/M^3. The less massive a star is, the longer it burns as a main sequence star — provided that it actually reaches ignition. Long story short: a large star is much much more difficult to support than a small star, which translates into a disproportionate energy consumption vs fuel supply that increases approximately linearly with mass.

No. But then again, a star with a mass as close to Jupiter as it can be and still be a star is going to be a very dim star anyway.
