Peaceful overtures, good wishes, fairy dust and flatulence. Woohoo.
If people want any sort of results, how about talking about deals on the table with real meaning. Things like spheres of influence, military posture, trade cooperations, or just the tariff rate on imported bobble head dolls.

We can't meanigfully discuss military posture or the like until we know where we are in relation to everyone else. It wouldn't do to hammer out a nice arrangement, only to realize the person you're negotiating with is on the other end of the galaxy.

Well I think part of the problem is that we need something of a map where everyone is first, simply because it would be silly to start making major deals if you are on opposite sides of the sector with hostile forces in between. We need to know who our neighbours are before we can start talking about relations.
Plus, the origins of this thread were a bit silly considering that it was as a counter to the human centric one, which existed just to get the backstory in place. Perhaps a more general diplomacy thread is needed, although perhaps that would be better for the main thread when it finally gets started up.

By venerable STGOD tradition, if your alliances pre-date the map you can always just ask for a workable position.
Besides, putting in place trade deals and organizations and certain humanitarian and law enforcement accords can always proceed with out a map.

Welcome to the STGOD.

I am thinking of making a 500 point empire, like Yeerks.
If there's anybody who would like to ally closely with a race of parasites or shapeshifters, tell me. I'm not sure whether I'll go parasites or shapeshifters or even whether that'll be allowed. The key thing I'm looking for is a race who in their history would've "uplifted" my race, so I got my technology and spaceships and perhaps even civilization primarily through outside intervention. If there's anybody out there who this would be compatible with, contact me. I intend to spend most of my points on external security, a fleet of hundreds of extremely fast long-ranged craft, and perhaps one or two cruisers which would've been produced with non-native technology. No battleships.

LOL. Evil brain slugs, with no military? Best of luck, mate- but I do like an enemy I can destroy without even using my whole force ;P

I intend to make them the scouting force for an extragalactic invasion. I figure I can play a minor power this game, then STGOD 2k8 or whatever I can play a full fledged empire. I don't really care if I get destroyed as long as the RP is good.
Of course, I'll need a really close ally for this to work, otherwise some dick will just fly over to my homeworld or mothership and kill me early on. I'm thinking of an unusual ship, some kind of 200 point extragalactic generational ship, that I'll park in orbit of my friendly host race's homeworld.

Sorry brian, but the Qiraji don't want to ally themselves with the competition. There can be only one mind-control race!
However, would anyone else wish to ally themselves with the Empire of the Sun to crush the Software Patent Enforcement Intellect?

I like the idea of an enemy I can defeat with a salt shaker.

Heres some stuff that isn't pure fluff..
The UISC Inhabits an area known as "The Sector" that is rough 20LY square.

Measurments are as followed:
Measured From Kol ___0___LY
Octona 1-1/3 LY
Conearazra 3-1/3 LY
Galacticus 4.9 LY
Trathala 5.0 LY
Tajlan / Jahlin 7.1 LY
Zenar Minor 18.0LY
The UISC as a whole is largly two factions, The Three worlds of Quatonia, Octona, and Conearazra, and Tajlan (or the Tajlan Empier as they like to still call themsleves)
For the most part the Tajlanm side drices expansion to colonize near worlds. The UISC as a whole would rather expand through bussines deals then force.

Not necessarily. Perhaps a comparative study is called for?

The Dinosaurs wish to open a multinational taste test panel to investigate this pressing issue, as well as extend the amount of mammals they can harvest per year for scientific reasons. It may be unrelated, but we felt it was worth mentioning.

Sure, why not.
A lot of what I see is people being afraid of being evil because they think that being evil is being like The Devil from End of Days, going around blatantly blowing up shit. Also, people are afraid of being evil because they're afraid they'll be a bullseye for do-gooders.
I'm going to lay it all out in the open with my OOB. I'll have torture, concentration camps, slavery, a dictatorship, brainwashed religious soldiers, a cult of personality and the goal of learning as much as possible about native races to lay the foundation for a galactic invasion (which won't come this STGOD.) However, I do so because I trust the moderation. I'm going to invest an extreme amount of points in intelligence services. Put it this way, my concentration camps won't be bustling with reporters.
The only thing freely available about my empire is that they're not of this galaxy and extremely reclusive. Everything else you'll have to fight tooth and nail for to find out, RP it. I'll be extremely pissed if someone comes out in the first round of posts and declares my empire evil, then forms a coalition to destroy me because of said evil, because of some information they got from the OOB without RPing anything at all.

The Ahn'Qiraji Empire has a prime stock of a rather unorthodox meat. Let us ask you, have you ever tasted human? It comes in several varieties, such as light, dark, mild, and spicy. Would you be open to a trade agreement?

Brian has absolutely the right idea, and I can assure you that the mods will respect the privacy of nations such as this.

It's almost something to declare a religious war over.

Unfortunately, the Qiraji species on average prefers to avoid such exotic fare. Only a few brave souls have had the chitin to dine on human.
Stormbringer wrote:You are aware that trading in sentient species as food is rather frowned on?
The Qiraji were unaware that humans genetically modified to the intellect of terrestial cows, and killed in a gentle manner, were considered sentient.
Beowulf wrote:It's almost something to declare a religious war over.
Would you wage war on the humans on behalf of the Qiraji people, since they devour our lesser cousins? I think not.

I find it obscurely disturbing to learn of the existence of an empire that could be fairly comfortable be eradicated with one of my Patent Enforcement Units.
The ironic thing is that wierd gribbly horrors from beyond space are fairly safe from me. Too far outside the human paradigm to be infringing on even the broadest patents.

Wailing (or rather squeaking) fans line the space dock as the megaband 'Non Shippy Things' prepares to depart from Haven on a tour of the Union of Inter Stellar Civilizations. The Contactiphile faction has made this the centrepiece of a formal contact and goodwill mission, and as such the Relativity class 'K.O.G.E. Insight' has been dedicated to the three-month cruise through UISC space, starting with a series of concerts in major Quatonian cities. The Anaytrean Cultural Development Flock thanks the Quatonian media tycoon Rupert Plumbean for making this ground-breaking tour possible, and hopes it will help promote a spirit of understanding and friendship.
By contrast no holocams record the passage of the Requiem-class K.O.S.C. Euthaniser, which silently trails the Insight under cloak and strict radio silence.

I'd like to point out that playing an isolationist power sucks in the early game, as I have to play solo for a little bit. I'm regretting my choice currently. You all suck. Feel the emo power!
