I'm guessing it's one of the differences.. The portuguese Church does not condone that. I would have been circuncised, I'm sure, if that wasn't the case. And it's hard to even know anyone who has performed that operation.
I think it's a SPanish/American thing. [shrugs]

Well, from personal experience, NO, there is no "maintainence deal" to worry about,

Yup, my foreskin's still intact, and I personally think penises look better with a foreskin attached.

Don't forget the buffy and aliens threads.
My parents are athiests and never subscribed to the idea in the first place.

Im cut. Got it when I was first born so it obviously wasn't a problem. No religious reasons, my parents just decided it was for the better since it supposedly reduced chances of infections and such. I prefer it this way anyways.

There was a brief phase when I was just hitting puberty that I wished I had the skin back but it passed quickly and Im fine with my dick the way it is and wouldn't want it any other way. Well.. Maybe an inch bigger but thats it.

I'm not cut, and damn proud of it. Never had problems either, the whole circumcision-will-make-you-healthier is a load of pseudoscientific cow shit. Not only that, circumcision has actually been proven to be more harmful than good (the foreskin is the first line of defense against diseases).

Let's not turn this into a fucking debate.

Circumcision is not dangerous or a heath risk: and neither is not having it performed.

EDIT: There is evidece that uncircumcised men are at a (very) slightly greater risk to contract penile cancer, but this appeares to be more related to hygene. And there are rare instances where an uncircumcised male might need to have a circumcision performed later in life, such as failure to fold properly, constriction, or skin tearing. I know because one of my uncles wasn't circumcised when he was born, and had to have it done when he was ~16-18, because his forskin was too tight.

I had that particular form of Judeo-Christian ritual mutilation performed on me when I was a baby. I have always felt a sense of violation and injustice over it. Needless to say, my sons are uncut.

Uncut and I don't know anyone that is cut.

I wonder if there's a medical procedure to graft a foreskin onto a circumsised person?

I'm cut and like it that way. Just about all guys in America are cut.

I think that differing views between the US and Europe on circumcision actually has little to do with a religion divide and more with a divide of pot smoking hippies and conservatives  .

http://www.circinfo.com/questions/ypq.html link for reasons to get circumcised just cause other people are doing it :)

A 7 year old boy at my moms school is going to get his forskin removed due to an infection. He's apparently had the problem for a few years now. Whether or not he would have gotten the infection without his foreskin I don't know but he does have to get it removed either way.

In regard to Icehawk's post about the 7YO:

There is also the fact that post-infant circumcisions have greater risks and complications (not a lot, but significant) then ones performed on infants, which have very few risks and complications. IIRC, the level of risks and complications also increase as the male grows older, so if you do get one, it's best to do right after they're born.

They're not. When I was born, the hospitals simply did it without asking, unless the parents forcibly stopped them.

Paul argued against circumcision. It's more of a Jewish tradition IMO, though some Christians do now have circumcision done.
My fault. However, most Catholics, it seems, go with circumcision.
This is untrue, most AMERICAN Catholics might be, but the majority of Catholics aren't.
