While I haven't heard of the 7700GT being affected like the 7900, I didn't really look either so it's possible you have the same problem a lot of people have been having. Namely, a lot of nVidia's manufacturers overclock their cards right out of the box and in the case of many production runs of 7000 series cards this causes the VRAM to overheat and burn itself out (and since it's the memory that's overheating and not the GPU, most temperature gauges will report normal temperatures), ruining the card and causing the described symptoms. If you've already tried the usual steps of updating DirectX, drivers, etc., then it may well be you got a shitty card and need to RMA it.MRDOD wrote:7700 GT something-or-other, if I remember correctly. I've just given up since it's twice in a row now.
It makes Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, Rome: Total War (especially BI but not RTR), Silent Hunter III, Prince of Persia, Galactic Civilizations II (especially), yet not any game by Paradox Interactive (due to having less sophisticated graphics, I'd wager) go to unplayable, if that helps describe which ones if works on.
