I got my drums today. I worked so I haven't gotten to open them up yet, but I shall.

They have the papers set up already for me to ship it back, but how do I notify UPS for it? Do I call them or do I have to take it to one of their locations?

You mean these? You'd better befuckinglieve it, at $10 a pop.
The drums are about as faithful as you could expect for the general public: if they added the kick drum as much as you would play it in real life -
*hand dropping on record sound*

Whoa, wait - how little kick drum are we talking here?

The yellow lines are the kick drum.

I should open the damn package before asking these sorts of questions. A helpful paper with instructions was within. :P

Hard drums are hard. But fun.

I'd say maybe a quarter to half of how much you'd really use it in a real song, depending on the song of course. I managed to play a Weezer song on expert and I didn't use it nearly as much as I'd have liked. Depending on the song, sometimes there is a double kick.

They should let you disable the damn bass drum, in my opinion. Image

You must really have no sense of rhythm if the kick drum troubles you that much. I'm no drummer, and bitter experiences as a fill-in one have driven me to stay away from the instrument, but I can tell you now that even a "hard" song like the one by The Who in the video ought to pose no problem to anyone who can count to four.

Most of the songs on Hard difficulty are loaded with them.

The mention of Keith Moon raises a question I've been wondering - does Rock Band offer a double kick mode that you can use for any song? My left foot has never been able to figure out hi-hat for anything but the most basic rhythms, though with double-bass I'm fine.

EDIT: Grammar.

I've got a trivia question: when you make your characters and band, are the characters 'locked in' to the instrument they choose? Can you do the party-game thing and move characters around instruments?

Just to head off people being retards, yes no shit you can just swap instruments physically. I'm asking about CHARACTERS.

Not that I'm aware of, I just use variations of my actual name, Thomas (Drums), Tom (Mic), and Tommy (Guitar & Bass).

No, each character is locked in to the instrument you create them with. (Guitar/Bass, Drums, or Vocals.)

But since you're going to be playing through the career mode of them all anyway to learn the songs, if you want to make 3 characters that look the same, you should have no trouble earning the funds for the same clothing for them all.
