Has the NFL permitted convicted felons to come back to play before? Particularly when there was gambling involved? I thought gambling was a big no-no in the NFL. And is any team going to want to pick up someone whom is so reviled? Weird as it may seem to you, there are a lot of people who will take "he tortured dogs" more seriously than something like "he fucked an underage girl" (to take a random example). Remember the baseball teams handing out Mike Vick doggy-doo bags? Do the teams want that kind of publicity?

I don't know, it just smells like they are annoyed that he's in prison with little thought as to why he's there, because if what he did. I guess it's too much to hope that they would be angry with him for participating in such a vile pastime, all other considerations aside.
A lot of those guys come from the same types of places he does. To them, and others, it might not be that vile. Putting a man in jail because he killed some dogs doesn't sit well with everyone.
And it's bullshit when they think it too, so I'd be plenty pissed at his teammates as well, if I actually gave two shits what they think. This is no different than the parents of some West Philly thug crying in front of the camera that "their baaaby" couldn't have possibly shot someone.

It seems the only thing that will disqualify you from playing in the NFL is if you happen to actually be serving your life sentence for murder-one (see Rae Carruth).

Gambling ON the games, ala Pete Rose, would probably do it as well.

No, not really. Taking a human life is far worse than taking a dogs life, I don't care what the situation.
What if he had been fighting cocks or birds or fighting fish, and killed them when they didn't win? This situation is the way it is because most people (we) LOVE dogs, some people like children, but not everyone views dogs that way. To some people they are just dogs.

What in my post are you making this response to, specifically? You just quoted the whole thing.

And? Who gives a shit what "some people" think? What is your argument here? Because right now it looks like you're making some kind of ad populum argument, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume I'm just misinterpreting you.
Yes, I will say I don't hold a dog's life at the same value as I do a human being's, but that's because of the human being's significantly higher intellectual capacity and (therefore) increased ability to experience suffering. A fish is barely more intelligent than an insect, so I would hold it's life at a lower value than that of a dog. But "not holding to the same value" does not equal "it's okay to torture to death for no particular reason than my personal amusement."
