Unless the Enterprise seems to be a technologically superior againts the whole Alliance fleet. Nowhere were shields shown to exist.
If at some point River gets hunted down again by the Operative then I imagine the Enterprise is going to follow in the same tracks Mal did. I can easily see the Enterprise getting trashed in the attempt though due to the lack of friends to broadcast the truth like Mal did or even the ability to GET to that planet. I dont think the Reaver fleet is going to easily miss a big shiny ship like the Enterprise flying through their territory and Picard isnt likely to pull the same stunt Mal did to overcome the fleet the Operative assembled. Even if they do learn the truth, Picard still has to worry about the Prime Directive and in this case he would be interfering directly in the political affairs of a soverign power.

And there's proof of this....where? Zoe only specifies that the Reavers cover the strip of space between Haven and Miranda.Going 'round' wont really help them if the Reavers are around the entire planet.
Quite possibly because his ship doesn't have the range to circumvent Reaver territory, especiaslly considering how hard up he is in terms of cash, fuel, and parts.Mal didnt consider going round at all

You're complaining that the story isn't the kind you like. That's like me bitching about the lack of ninjas in Robin Hood. ~CaptainChewbacca

The Reavers were only a few planetary diameters from the surface of Miranda. Even when Serenity was in extremely dire fuel straits (in Serenity the episode), they had enough fuel to make an unplanned diversion to another planet, with another diversion away from the Alliance along the way. If the Reavers were only blockading a "strip" of space, Mal should have been able to easily go around them.Peptuck wrote:And there's proof of this....where? And realistically, at that distance, they would have to be orbiting Miranda, because doing otherwise would have required continually thrusting to maintain their stations, which they weren't doing.
Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. And we will probably be judged not by the monuments we build but by those we have destroyed.--Ada Louise Huxtable, "Farewell to Penn Station", New York Times editorial, 30 October 1963
