Damn thing woke me up, thought I'd imagined it. Bah.

EDIT: Still seems to be a 5.2 one. And LOL at the Hull comment. Earthquake hit, how would you know?

And 'quakes, like other extreme events, aren't that rare here.

I didn't feel nought :( mind you, I'm even further south than Orange.

I know we're the capital of big windy things, but I didn't know we did earthquakes on a regular basis.

There have been several notable geological events over the last decade, but none like this since the mid-eighties.

Felt like a lorry that wasn't passing by all that quick.

Man, I didn't feel a thing in Reading.

5.2 is pretty awesome for a quake. Got a txt from a friend in Manchester at 1am that woke me though

I'm less than 10 miles from the epicenter.

Oddly enough though, it didn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I live on one of the main roads into Lincoln, so we get huge trucks passing by and shaking us all the time. Just seemed like 4 or 5 of them going past at once!

Yeah, woke me up too. When your room is high up in a large tower block it's really, really unpleasant to feel the building rocking beneath you.

It was a bit surreal for me when people around Stormwind (a city in World of Warcraft) began screaming "EARTHQUAKE! EARTHQUAKE!".

I was awake for it. I just though something large was going past the window or the washing machine was acting up again at first. Then everything started shaking and i was wondering if the machine was about to explode. Then I realised it was probably an earthquake.

Apparently we get hit by 200 'quakes per year. At least its a nice round number.....

I was almost asleep and felt the whole room shake. My first thought was that someone had sneaked into my room and hidden under the bed and then shook it after a while, shows how common earthquakes are here.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

My bed is on the ground floor, less than five meters from a main road, so I'm fairly used to lorries going by and shaking the house. The only thing really remarkable about this was that it went on for longer.

...

Of course, it being early in the morning, my (half asleep) brain soon turned to "OMG! The apocalypse! The zombies are coming!". Just goes to show that you shouldn't watch horror films late at night, I guess. And how rare earthquakes are too, I suppose.

Here's a home video of the quake from the BBC website. Very Cloverfield. :)

*snort* yeah, if the cast of Cloverfield sounded as though they were about to start singing 'consider yerselves, at 'ome! consider yerselves, part of the furni-cha!'
