Tolkien was a Catholic, so it's no wonder the Pope has blessed Harry Potter. Then again, he's also blessed Pokémon.

Conclusions are nice, but you should have some evidence to back them up. Otherwise you end up with Aristotle's reasoning for why women are inferior.

That's not it. His AUNT used an ANALOGY comparing his parentage with her dog breeding hobby. she merely compared his mum to a bitch.

I don't know if Catholic priests do that more (although there's a large "Survivor's Network" for victims of Catholic priest abuse, which ought to say something) than other denominational ministers, but the organizational cover-up and protection of these pedophiles even after learning of their true nature is not something you can shrug off.

The organizational cover-up mentality is not just limited to the catholic church. The anglican church here in Australia has also been know to participate in such cover-ups.

The Vatican saying Harry Potter is okely-dokely is pretty cool, shows that they have SOME common sense, at least.

But best of all, it makes all those Christians who said it was demonic look like a bunch of asses in the eyes of their contemporaries, and not just people like us.

In the "layers of Fundie Hell" the Catholic Church is nowhere NEAR the bottom. With such a huge membership base, they have to make some concessions.
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!

Sure they do. They concede on Harry Potter. Now how about the "birth control" thing, the "ordainment of women" thing, the "celibacy in the priesthood" thing, the "zero-tolerance for child molesters" thing, the "legitimacy of other religions" thing, the "legitimacy of other Christian denominations" thing, the "refusal to directly apologize for the crimes of the past" thing, the "we'll just vaguely apologize for the fact that bad things happened in the past, as if we had nothing to do with it" thing, the "sainthood being irrevocable even in cases of violent killers" thing ...
