I came to the conclusion that I royally suck at TF2. I have difficulty with the movement/aiming feeling. It's difficult to explain, but compared to original TFC, it seems a lot more sluggish to aim. I don't really get slowdown graphically, but it's harder for some reason.
Does anyone experience dying a lot faster? I was seeing HW guys getting taken down by a couple sg blasts from a scout. Is that new?

Bump up your mouse sensitivity. Personally, I like it at around 5, but I have friends that prefer it at around 7. The default is 3.

Yeah, try playing around with the sensitivity, you should be able to find a perfect setting for you.
Also, the Scout's SG is brutal when fired point blank, it's does about as much damage as a rocket like that, that's why scouts that insist on hitting you with the baseball bat are idiots, you should only pull it out if you ran out of ammo and the target is still alive, if you're going to go in like that just fire 2 shots point blank you can take down anything but a heavy. Heavies take 3-4, but you can easily get in 2 shots before they notice and then run circles while they try to track you and finish them (they worst mistake is backing away, you have to stay on top of them). The ideal scout plays like spy with balls.

It's hard to get close enough to someone to really let the SG shine if you're fighting someone more mobile than a Heavy, though.
Honestly, if you're playing a Scout, why the heck are you getting in pitched battles, anyway? You're wasting valuable point/briefcase/sandwich-stealing time.

That's where the spy in "spy with balls" part comes, you attack them from behind and kill them before they even realize you're there, it's harder and takes more skill cause you don't have a disguise, that's where the balls part comes in; when they focus on you, you then retreat accordingly, no one can catch you. You can kill as many people as any of the heavier classes if you know what you're doing.

And what else are you going to do when what ever objective you have to go against is heavily guarded? Charge it and get minced in .34 seconds or just sit there with a finger up your ass? Please, don't be stupid, besides, this is only pointing out how you SHOULD engage, not that that's all you should do.

I guess that makes sense.
I just love finding the route that bypasses all of the enemy's carefully-constructed defenses, so I can grab it (or camp a point) before they can even react effectively.

There is a Spy tactic where they suddenly charge just to the right or left of you, attack, and turn while they're attacking (to get the fast swipe animation) which hits your back. Due to the buggy netcode, you only get to see them turn towards you before you get backstabbed.

I've got a couple of achievements, but not that many.

I had a few, though I recently had to reinstall TF2 and haven't logged in again yet. Are achievements linked to the account?
Either way, I still need to get that ">10 kills with one turret" Engineer achievement.

I've gotten one already, but I haven't been playing medic as much as heavy and soldier lately.

Got it running on my wife's laptop since my desktop died, so I'm finally getting back into it.
I'd forgotten just how great it looks. Even with EVERYTHING on low it still looks brilliant because of the graphic style.
I'm still rubbish, but I'm getting better with soldier and engineer, am a pretty good medic and heavy (how hard is that though?) and am starting to pick up scout to try that out.

I'm like 10 away from the ubersaw, but i don't know if i care enough to get it.
Also, while the Kritzkrieg SUCKS on heavies and pyros (just don't do it, they get minced if they have to get that close), it's obscenely devastating on soldiers, it's also good for demomen, but they tend to die easily cause they have to be somewhat close, nothing like giving it to a soldier and have him shoot into a bottle neck from far away, killing 5 enemies/buildings per shot. Of course, for it to work you need both the soldier and the medic to not be rushing-in idiots, and that's harder than it seems.

I pretty much hate spies, yeah. My friend (who has watched me play, and has played a bit on my comp) asserts that this is because I am incapable of playing the class personally. Possibly this is true. The basic deal is, with any other class I am capable of running a supreme train of hurt on people, killing mass quantities and/or maintaining an effective support role, but there is little enough way to defend against spies.
I guess they're a necessary class, since grenades have been done away with. In TFC there were several classes who could, in the hands of a skilled player, crack sentry gun defenses by themselves (heavies and demos with the MIRVs, Soldiers with nail-grenade plus rockets). Without those nades, a well-placed SG defense is half-impregnable, and spies are really necessary (instead of half-ornamental, as in TFC). Probably it's more fair... but nobody likes getting fragged by some pussy who frankly can't even shoot straight.

New Health gun, second achievement award. It heals like normal, but when you uber someone with it, instead of making both of you invulnerable it makes every shot the other guy takes a critical shot. Well used, it takes the tactics and strategy of the game to a whole new level. Poorly used and it is a regular healing gun without the invulnerability
The Blutsauger is the new needle gun and the first reward, I see it called the HIV gun because of how deadly it makes medics. It doesn't do critical shots at all, but every hit gives you 3 health on top of the damage it does to the target. If you are really good Soldiers and Demos are the only ones who can reliably bring you down (Heavies, Sentry Guns, and Snipers can get you in the open, but if you are good you know about your friend "cover"). Against a crowd of poor players you can wade into the fray and soak up stray shottie blasts while you killl everyone around you. It has the same high rate of fire and large clip, but now the low damage it deals isn't as big an issue because you keep your self alive long enough to match damage.
Final achievement award is the Ubersaw. It replaces the regular handsaw, it does about the same damage, but every strike you land now adds to you health guns ubermeter. Haven't played with it yet, but most experienced people I talk to love it. Tag along after a soldier, the splash damage leaves them weak enough that you can quick tab over and mop up.

Umm....is this XBox-only stuff? I've got the PC version of the game, and I haven't seen any of those. Then again, I haven't played in a couple of weeks (no time).

PC man. Also came with a new map "Gold Rush" which is a blast - your team has to push a cart to laden with bombs to the points to blow up the other base, while the other team defends. Offers a lot of innovative strategies with such a simple layout. Plus 11 snipers on defense is just fun to play.
Also
Meet the Scout. Valve has a great ad team for this game.

Personally, I want to see Sniper and Spy get their ep... but I'm also curious how they'd do pyro. Medic could be good too... But that's everything that's left.
Still, the extra stuff is fun. Dunno what the new saw does, but the needle gun is a definitive upgrade, and the kritzkrieg takes strategy and team work to make the most of...

Oooh...I see I need to set some time aside to play some more TF2.
I'd seen the "Meet the Scout" video already, I'm hoping they get around to making "Meet the Medic" soon. ^_^

The Ubersaw charges your uber by 25% for each hit you land, so, all you need to do is manage to melee 4 times without dying to get a full charge.

I'm really looking forward to the Pyro's new abilities. He's my favorite class by far and I really would like to get a replacement to the fireaxe that has a use.
