Luke was using the Force to deflect some of it away from himself according to the novelisation.

You're welcome.
havokeff wrote:So what you are saying is that you feel Vader was hit with the same strength of FL as Windu. The "glow" factor we see in Vader is not due to the metal conducting the electricity more efficiently.
Aye.
havokeff wrote:I suppose that could be worked into my "theory".
Palpatine, when Vader betrayed him, experienced for the first time in 20 years what I called the "franticness and excitement" of fighting for his life, only this time he loses, but it produces the strength in the lightning that we haven't seen since he was first able to really cut lose on Mace in ROTS.
That works, although one can also speculate a bit further.

Lucas said that Vader wasn't able to produce FL directly due to his artificial arms (EU aside since I seem to recall that Vader has done FL. The book which should not be mentioned had him make a 'force kinetite' which is something similar-looking but according to Pablo Hidalgo, isn't. I suppose the question if Vader can make FL is left not entirely decided in the end.

At the same time, Vader is a very strong force user who knows that Palpatine can produce FL, and has experienced the results of being hit with FL before. He might have been able to prepare some kind of defence (Luke could, AOTC novel) although it ultimately proved inadequate.

There's no clear support either way that cybernetics makes it harder or easier to defend against FL. Low-ranking KOTOR suggests that FL works just as well on either the living or droids. I can't find anything specific in RPG books but KOTOR is based on the D20 RPG anyway. There's also this little tidbit.

Dark Lord suggests that FL would overwhelm Vader's life support systems almost int he same way real electricity would.

That doesn't make it more susceptible to damage than living flesh. But it bears to be noted that Vader's life support systems were cybernetic. While having either a living arm or a cybernetic arm shut down from FL, it wouldn't kill you. Having your life support fried, well...
