Specifically, during the Kosovo War as Russian troops neared the Pristina airport, General Clark ordered British Paratroopers to storm the place and seize it first. British General Sir Mike Jackson told him that he wasn't going to start the third world war and played the red card (appealed to national authority to overrule his NATO superior).
