Seven razzies?
Good god...

AOTC is not deserving of a razzie.
Sure, Anakin's and Padme's romance scenes were awful (but better if you just watch padme's tits :D ) but the rest of the movie was a blast. The action scenes were the bet in years, and genrally the movie was fun.
A few bad lines doesnt make AOTC deserve a razzie.
Now Kangaroo Jack, Castaway, and Spiderman, that godawful cheese flick, should win razzies. But the critics oh no not spiderman, its a holy grail, for some damn reason. Daredevil certainly looks better, (and I hope it is).
The razzie people, instead of picking on star wars, should just pick the worst movie, not the one people are gonna get angry about and isn't anywhere near deserving of one.

PS. I defy anyone to find romance lines in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" which are NOT cheesy. Yet no critic would ever dare say that.
I made a comment along those lines a few years ago in an essay, I said that if judged by modern standards Shakespeare would never be accepted etc.
I got a 0 for it. Fuckin' English teachers.

Shakespheare (sp.)
basically invented the love story cliches.
But, yeah, Romeo and Juliet is painful to read.
So is the rest of Shakespheare.
Too many damn thithers, thys, thows.... its a wonder anyone didn't slip on their own saliva when talking.

AOTC has been nominated for just one Academy Award, for its visual effects. The other nominees are The Two Towers and Spider-man. Who wants to bet SW will get screwed again?

Is it bad that Spiderman is cheesy?? Now, I haven't seen it, but if I were going to see a movie based upon a Marvel comic book, I'd expect it to be extremely over-the-top.

Now, cheesyness hasn't worked well for DC comic heroes since the 1960s - particularly not for Batman - but Marvel's somewhat different. At least if I remember my Captain America and The Fantastic Four cartoons well, then Marvel used to be cheesy, but cheesy in a good way.

Sorry, release date January 17th. It won't be a candidate until the 2004 award shows.

But who cares. The razzies have sucked from the begining. They are as lame and political as any of the other award shows. And their 'clever idea' sheen has long since rubbed off. I care less about the razzies than I do about what George Clooney had for breakfast. Which is to say not at all.

I don't think TPM got screwed out of its visual effect award. I think The Matrix deserved it a little more.

The Stinkers are another bad cinema award. They are a lot more reasonable, a lot less political, they actually go for the worst films rather than what is trendy to hate. They still won't go after Spider-Man, though, but nobody's perfect, I guess. AoTC comes out pretty well; Hayden gets a nomination, Jar Jar gets a nomination, and the screenplay gets a nomination, but that's it.

I disagree. The simple fact that you could tell where The Matrix's special effects shots were and you couldn't do the same with Episode I made Episode I more deserving. Fancy camera angling and motion blurs are cinematography, not special effects.

Bah. The Razzies are stupid, just like the Oscars are stupid.

Do you know why the Oscars are stupid? Because they're going to shaft TTT, and LOTR in general.

LOTR was made by an independent film producer operating out of New Zealand, who has a sort of disdain for Hollywood. Hollywood will never forgive Jackson for making a kickass rockin' blockbuster movie in NEW FRICKIN' ZEALAND, and, worst for all, for not being one of their pet producers and slave-directors.

Fucking Oscars. They should all DIE!

Yeah the Razzies even have a new category: "MOST FLATULENT TEEN-TARGETED MOVIE " (Though AOTC wasn't in it.)

The Razzies have lost their perspective far before TPM, there sole purpose has turned into "flame up something to begin a topic...the Hollywood way".

I wholeheartedly agree.
Sadly, it won't just whither up and die.......
So, we'll have to begin arming ourselves properly and setting plans....

No, the Oscars are stupid because the voting is done by "elites", who use their show not to "celebrate excellence", but to remind normal people yet AGAIN that our tastes are inferior to their refined, superior nose-in-the-air tastes. Favouritism is merely an inevitable side-effect of this class system.

While I agree with you to an extent, your last statement sounds a little communist....

There's a difference between pointing out the problems of eliteism (and even capitalism) and saying the government should force everyone to have equal status.

Just a little nitpick.

It's actually "How can anybody dislike cheese?"

When talking about Oscars i'm forced to recall the an episode of Spin City. Michael J Fox's mayor boss is a member of the accademy and he just nominates Tom Hanks for every category. Thats seems to be pretty close to the truth saying as how it seems they accademy seem to chose one film from the middle of the pack and just dump oscars on it.

Hmmm...

Hayden Christensen's and Natalie Portman's acting wasn't even at 80%, I agree...

But nominating AotC for the worst screen!!!!

Jealousy, I sense...

I agree, the Razzies are operating more out of spite these days then anything else... They did the same thing with The Phantom Menace. Afterall they did nominated Sofia Coppola (daughter of Francis Ford Coppola) for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in The Phantom Menace.

In case anyone is curious, she had no lines and she played one of Amidala's handmaidens...
They managed to nearly match that stupidity with this year's Worst Supporting Actress nominees. Bo Derek's 10 seconds of running in Master of Disguise (why the fuck isn't this in the running for worst film?) and Madonna's short cameo in Die Another Day both got them nominations.

I find it odd that you object to that line, since it's more or less taken straight from the comics.
