Unless Wedge did this twice, this happened over Borleias in Rebel Stand. Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand had some great moments in them. I pretty much stopped reading NJO after those books.
With Aaron Allston listed as one of the authors, i have much more optimism. There is only so much you can do with a horrible plot though.

Advance readers of Luceno's Millennium Falcon novel report that the official blurb of FoTJ I: Outcast is included in the back of the book. TheForce.Net has posted the summary:
THE FUTURE AWAITS...
It has been two years since the death of Darth Caedus. Chief of State Natasi Daala has ushered the Galactic Alliance into a time of unprecented calm, and now the entire galaxy stands poised to freely embrace the same enduring peace that Jacen Solo once sought to impose as a Sith Lord.
In this new era, Luke Skywalker finds himself battling for control of the very order he founded. After Jacen's fall to the dark side, much of the galaxy sees Jedi Knights as rogue soldiers too dangerous and unstable to leave unfettered. It is a view shared by Chief Daala, who has sworn to bring the order under government control--or disband it entirely.
But the greatest threat to the Jedi remains unseen, a faceless menace even more lethal and insidious than the Sith who have plagued the Jedi for millennia. Awakened by Jacen Solo during his five-year odyssey, this hidden peril is reaching out from the darkest corner of the galaxy, assaulting Jedi Knights in ways that Luke has yet to perceive--but which he must quickly thwart if he is to have any hope of redeeming the New Jedi Order.
Don't miss the further adventures of Luke Skywalker,Leia Organa Solo and Han Solo in the brand new epic series Star Wars:Fate of the Jedi beginning with Outcast by Aaron Allston in bookstores April 2009!"
While I have no major interest in FoTJ, I am still somewhat curious as to what the hell Jacen did that'll screw the NJO over again.

Perhaps it's some rogue group of Force users who Jacen pissed off. There's a whole list of them in the Force article in Wookieepedia, although I wouldn't count any of them as more dangerous than the Sith.
I remember seeing some spoilers about it being the Kotor-era "true sith" that revan was readying the republic to fight four thousand years ago.....

What have they then been doing all this time? Sitting around picking their collective noses? Reminiscing about the good old days? Oh my god they're going to bring fucking Revan back aren't they?

My god, I really hope this isn't true, since it would destroy what little hope there is left for a KOTOR 3. It also would destroy some good story possibilities for the rumored KOTOR MMORPG.

That is bad fanfic. Seriously, I had something like this in an rp on another forum, and people thought it was silly.

So I guess the question, if they really do bring in Revan and the True Sith, is:
Have they finally surpassed Brannon and Braga for destroying a beloved universe?

They already did that with Traviss, this is just flogging a dead horse.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.
They couldn't make it too wanky. Otherwise they're going to have to deal with the fact that no one in the Legacy comics have mentioned anything about Revan's return or something like that.
Speaking of which, the Legacy comics are still cool with everybody, right?
Can someone tell me why the fuck an Imperial war criminal is chief-of-state of the galactic fucking alliance?
Didn't Daala murder a bunch of imperial leaders to form the remnant?
Didn't she order indescriminate bombing attacks on Mon Calamari cities because she was pissed that she lost a ship?
Wasn't her grand plan for revenge against the New Republic to ram her remaining star destroyer into coruscant, killing millions?
She should be in a fucking prison! I know she was (yet another) mouthpiece for Traviss in some of the legacy novels, but surely the other writers would have more sense than to make her the godsdamnd Galactic President.
On top of the fact that she's a goddamnd war criminal, she's incompetent as fuck. No wonder the GA loses to the Fel Empire 150 years down the line. The GA probably only just finished recovering from how badly she screwed it up!

What's stranger is that Luke, Leia, and company would just take it. They rebelled against the evil Empire, so why would they now accept one of its minions as leader of the Galaxy?
That's how they should kill of the old heros: have them die leading a new revolt against the monostrosity of failiur their rebellion has turned into.

According to spoilers on the NJOE board's thread on the Millennium Falcon novel, the Mon Cal have been pissed to high heaven about the Daala in the two years since Invincible. Han himself admits to Lando that he wasn't thinking clearly and was affected by his grief; nominating Daala seemed a sane move in the wake of Jacen's death.

Wait. Han nominated Daala? What the hell were they thinking? Please tell me I misread that.
Han needs to die in the next book for that.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and assume that there's no published scene in any book addressing the seething hatred Han felt for Daala in the original Jedi Academy Trilogy.

According to the spoilers, Lando brings up the events of the Jedi Academy Trilogy. Han replies, "We got even with her. Besides, if I'm going to list all the beings who've tortured me over the years, Ive got to include Leia's father in the mix, so what's the use? It is what is is."
I'd still love to know if it was Traviss who's inclusion of Daala in Revelation forced Denning to set her up as the new CoS or if Shapiro or anyone at Lucasfilm instructed her to do so.
Han's hatred or lack thereof for Daala aside, and last I heard he hadn't forgave Vader for torturing him let alone Daala, who the fuck came up with the great idea that a handful of people alone can decide the ruler of an entire democracy. Even Palpatine went to the trouble of actually getting elected first.
People are just now realizing that the Rebellion was a miserable failure? Having just endured the worst war ever that wouldn't have even made front page news under the Empire? All for the Empire to come right back again? These heroes can only stay heroes with a liberal application of judicious discontinuity. Inclusionism is not kind to these characters at all.
I love how the heroes of the films are literally mouthpieces for LFL's editorial spin on the topic of inclusion of stupidity from their authors. If they want to stick to their guns on their choices, have some balls and creativity and have the heroes hate/rebel against Daala, or at least say they fucking hate her.

There's also a bit in there I noticed when skimming it that Daala's alliance with the Mandalorians is not welcomed with open arms in all circles. I recall hearing something about "Mandalorian hunting droids" somewhere in the novel.
