My main concern was that neither country might put much stock into FTO fairness for a while, not until trust can be built up.
Considering the FTO was a belligerent, the Vineyards support having Cascadia be an independent third party in the implementation.

I'll leave it up to Raj if Indhopal agreed immediately to the Sabikan and Omangan requests for Cascadian participation in dispute mediation and arbitration or if they did so only after consulting with the other FTO governments.

Shroom, you can't hold you're breath until you die. You pass out, then start breathing again.

(off camera) And you wonder why Frequesque is so screwy.

Just for the record, no, I'm not continuing in the moderator role. Lonestar and Shep proved capable of solving things on their own, and then my 20-credit quarter clubbed me with a bag of rocks in the head.

Back to doing mechanics problems!

Well, good luck with that, Your Grace.

On the subject of GDP growth, I like most most FTO nations, have been spending an obscene amount on my military, but on the other hand, we're a militaristic nation who's main pastime is the production of munitions, and half the new FTO destroyers are being built in Baerne. So...I've no idea what that means. An economist I am not.

I don't suppose anyone would care to help?

The meeting ought to over next post.
Aaand it's over. That went rather well, I think. Hopefully the Byzantines will remember President Hank as a passionate but reasonable fellow now, rather than as a whacky dude who tells his diplomats to yell at commies :D.
Norseman wrote:Weird question but do you think Astarians are often used as bad guys in this worlds movies?
I don't personally think so. Astaria is hardly prominent enough to have it be a recurring supplier of bad guys. I half expect agents from the long-gone Shadow Empire, or perhaps Japanistanis and Shepistanis, to figure more prominently in San Dorado's own movies.

Astaria is after all just an out-of-the-way place, if you asked people about it chances are they'd ask you "isn't that the place with the distasteful people-owning laws?" Either that or "isn't that a Shroomanian province?"
PeZook wrote:That's innovation? Sounds suspicously like insanity to me :P
Insanity? In Shroomania? Surely not!

PS: Coyote, what happened to the THEL program? Did we get approved by King Arik or was that decision postponed for the duration of the war?

Oh, I forgot to mention-- yeah, the THEL is approved (it was the volcano waste storage that was the real kicker!) and we're going full steam ahead. I thought I mentioned it, but it might have been just obliquely referred to in one of my political wrangling posts.

I'll send a rep or someone in a couple days to do the handshake and photo-op thing, but otherwise, go ahead and... implement!

Right now is... politically not a very opportune time to portray communists as high-profile evildoers :).

Sweet! I'll do a post about the first shipment of chemical waste and its disposal in the power tower soon.

We can arrange a War Crimes court in a few months. We don't have to be hasty.

You can have a PeZookian prosecutor in the team, so the PeZookians will feel better and can get even for all the dickeries those assholes have committed over the border.

Oh, and Nazi War Criminals had the tendency of suiciding themselves, so maybe a few of these war criminals of yours could also do things like hold their breath until they die, or eat entire bathtubs full of beans.... with fatal results.
Yes, we could do something like that.

PeZook could be the prosecutor, I'll be the judge and you can be the defence attorney. 8)

If you guys are interested, It might be a nice change from all the war stuff.

Anyway it's just an idea.

Also: I came in here to post something, but I forgot what it was. I'm of to bed.

Wilkonian OOB updated to reflect losses, AF losses replaced from training squadrons, all other losses are either explicitly noted by removal from the OOB or included as a seperate notation before the relevant service.

Siege might've, but I most certainly have not!

Be sure to make time on May 1st, 2009 to go down to your local theatre and see...

Razor Bradshaw in: INVASION FREQUESQUE!

See Razor Bradshaw in the ultimate performance in his career, as the brave but humble Sergeant Han Tzu during the Uranium War, leading his squad of hard-bitten veterans against the brutal neo-socialist invaders, winning the day and getting the girl!

(this film is not yet rated)

Ah yes... could I export Astarian movies? Like "Star of Honour!" Where the hardbitten colonial forces fight against the evil Queen Shetara, before finally capturing the castle! Where upon they loot it, and the queen is taken as the Colonel's concubine, while her ladies in waiting are sold into slavery. Derring do, and a morale too!

Baerne hereby claims its rightful place as the producer of most of the world's low-plot high-budget war movies.

MacMillan MultiMedia has dibs on all sorts of shit. We're the Gore and Guts capital of the world! I guess we'll have all sorts of RUTHLESS 80s ACTION movies and pornography and shitty sitcoms and basically everything WRONG with America - namely mass media made for morons!

But hey, we can totally film our war movies in the F-ing continent, in Baerne and other stuff. We can go: "FILMED ON LOCATION!"

Our films can even advertise the fact that we filmed action sequences right on the places where actual atrocities occurred, filming 'em on recently-filled mass graves and stuff.

It will be historically authentic.

Excellent. The BDA will be quite happy to supply extras for Shroomanian war flicks...for a small fee. :D

Constantinople times

Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople proclaims Crusade against Shroomania, and officially sanctions Anti-Shroomaticism

The Ecumenical Patriarch proclaimed Crusade against Shroomania, and the advocated the destruction of all things Shroom.....

Shinn, if I may.... you're a Duchy, and even if you have invested in having a capable defense industry, would you have the capacity to contribute in any significant way to Shepistani or OD rebuilding? I suppose that if some systems are demonstrated superior to ones they have, and they can afford them, you could give licenses for OD and/or Shepistan to build them.

Well, I obviously don't have the industrial capacity needed to fulfill both my own domestic needs and those of Shepistan and the OD, especially considering the sheer number of stuff that needs replacement on Shep's side. I can send them some finished products for testing and evaluation purposes, but they'll need to buy licenses before they can start building them on their own.
