Well, the first two episodes have aired, did anyone else watch them?
I thought it was a nice touch having yoda dispense his trademark sage-like wisdom to the clones he was with.
At the very least, the premiere blows Traviss' "Jedi don't care about clones" theory right out of the water.

you know, it's actually not that bad.

Did anybody else conjure the image of Steve Urkel when ever a B1 droid talked. It took me a moment to place it, then I was just waiting for "Laura, my sweet!" to come from one of them. At least the B2 droids don't have squeaky voices.

The first episode was still a little over the top with the kiddyness (sp?) but the second episode had a much darker side

. I mean showing Clones scrambling about and screaming while getting sucked into hard vaccum is not kiddy at all. I am actually really happy about that.
After watching these two episodes I am much more optimistic about the series

I love the way the droids were practically cheering when the clones sucked vacuum. Apparently they have a sadistic streak to go along with their slapstick antics. Just look at the preview for next week ("This is a lot more fun when they aren't shooting back")
Still, the B1 droid voices were slightly annoying, but they really aren't much different than the ones they used in Episode 3.

The Battle Droid voices are gratingly annoying, but I doubt they are going to change them, so I got over it.
Battle Droids get promoted? New to me!
Loved the ship destruction in the second episode. I was also slightly surpised at the clone deaths being as graphic as they were.
Next week, Jar-Jar?
NOOOOOO.
And Anakin's padawan can disappear now, please.
Grr.. must remember.. it's for kids....
Still, not bad at all. I went in with no preconceived notions and hey, Star Wars on TV!

Nastrom Magoti sounds very familiar... Can't quite place it. He is either Zoidberg or John Lithgow, or I am totaly off?

I was suprised with how good the two eps were. My issues with the quality concerns have been verified: the whole thing feels rushed. They could probably stretch it out close to an hour if they simply had more holding shots, slowed down the dialogue a bit and stretched the action out a little bit more so it wasn't so jerky. I'd also like more satisfying effects animation--the blaster effects are anemic from shot to impact, and it would be really easy to just throw in a nice big spark and puff of smoke to make it look like it's a scary gun and not some kind of squirt-rifle.
But hey, the plots aren't as little-kid as I was fearing, so I can look past it. The graphic deaths of depressurization weren't bloody, but it's still an awful way to die. The use of artificial gravity was cool when they dragged the pod through the ship's hold. We're seeing a lot of humanizing of the clones, which I think is really fun, and the voice acting is suprisingly better than I had thought it could be. The relationship with the Padawan feels forced, but I'm willing to overlook it, as it seems like they may indulge us with non-Anakin storylines from time to time. And even if the droids are a bit dense, I like how they've commented about their programming--it seems to be setting up a duality between the droids and the clones that should provide some interesting storyline opportunities should they choose to exploit it.
Overall, I'd say B- instead of a bad grade. The animation needs work and the whole thing feels like I'm watching the TiVo sped-up version of the show, but it's dense 30 minutes so it's not a bad way to entertain yourself. We've also seen less childlike humor and such bullshit than even the movies gave, no farting Hutts or anything, so I'm definately giving them some bonus points for that. Same for the more-compelling-than-expected villians.

This show can't decide if it wants to be serious or not. The degree to which they've made the Separatist Droid Army a carnival of retards is simply inappropriate. It's not amusing, it's grating, and jarringly incongruous with the aforementioned everything else in the show (the violent deaths of surprisingly sympathetic clones, etc.). If they dialed down the stupid (not "silly", but stupid. Silly implies it's amusing) to oh, say, TPM-levels this could have been an order of magnitude better. I'm serious, the battle droids fucking ruin this show.

You mean the voice from the opening of the show? I am almost 100% certain that he is the nameless Imperial Commander's voice in SW: Rebellion, "The Rebel Fleet is Withdrawing...The Empire is Victorious."

Edit: Oh you were asking who did the voice... sorry. I guess I should take a nap now.

Not bad so far, but I can understand the
Wired reviewers comments about this being directed at a younger audience. I don't really care for the art style, but I'm willing to look past it. Also, it's one thing to have the droids being incompetent, as Yoda demonstrated while jumping through them, and some slapstick is okay, but the shear idiocy of them is a little too much.

A quick question, though. Is there a reliable source for the episode names and air dates? IMDB and
MyEpisodes.com are giving me two different answers.

I've just watched the first episode, getting ready to watch the second. It was nice seeing the interplay between Yoda and the clones. Also some of what Yoda was doing reminded me a lot of when we first see him in ESB.

Every Friday at 9pm on Cartoon Network, or so the website and trailer claims.

they showed Y-wings in the same preview for the next episode. It's trying to show some continuity. Maybe they'll show Victory-class too

One thing i've noticed is that clone trooper accuracy seems to vary from total shit to awesome in the span of five seconds.
In the first episode, we witness clones taking aimed shots and cleanly decapitating at least 1 B-1 droid, and rapid-firing from the hip, in the same firefight. Then, one of the clonetroopers uses aimed 3-round bursts to take down a pair of supers.
Then, during fight on the pod and the hunter, the clones are missing at point blank range, but then Plo Koon tosses one behind the droids, and he takes two down in rapid succession, only failing to destroy the third because it has good cover.
I can't help but wonder why the clones can jump from using competent military tactics and ambushing the enemy, to standing in the open firing from the hip, in five seconds

I only saw a part of it (today at my friends house) but I'm wondering why Anakin's ship didn't pick up the blaster shots near the pod. Space is pretty sensor friendly, from what I understand, so wouldn't those shots have been picked up from far far farther away?
Or was there some freaky sensor jamming stuff?

The Malevolence was probably using jamming tech to avoid being detected while they finished off the survivors. Plo Koon had managed to track them to abregado, and the disappearance of two republic fleet groups in the same system would quickly lead to reconnaissance in force, something the malevolence wasn't ready to face.
Also, the debris field from the destroyed Venators probably didn't help

Furthermore, they had tuned the sensors to look for lifeforms and had dickered with the power levels at some point, I can't recall. It's certainly possible that smouldering wreckage from active, angry warships would contain enough high energy chunks that a few firearms wouldn't trip off a lifeform-tuned sensor on the opposite side of a massive debris field. I'm willing to let that slide. We certainly saw that Malevolence's sensors are able to pick up
one goddamn droid and identify that it wasn't a Trade Fed droid too. That's pretty good.
What's less believable that Plo couldn't just push the Hunter Killer vessel away the same way he turned the wrecked pod with the Force. Or that he couldn't move their pod away from them.

Well, like I said, I only saw that one part at my friends house, so I didn't know any context (though the idea did cross my mind that the wreckage was doing something to the sensors) but I didn't know they had the sensors tuned to finding lifeforms, or that the Malevolence was still around.

Well, that's what they did, according to the dialogue in the same episode. Tuning in to lifeforms.
