Re: Troopergate Report: Palin violated ethics, abused power
Washington Monthly magazine notes that the McCain/Palin campaign is the only ticket in American history on which both candidates have been found guilty of ethics violations before a national election.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

How could Obama in July of this year have the foresight to see Sarah would be picked as VP and "arrange" to have very red republicans from a red state vote unanimously on July 28th 2008 to begin this investigation.MRDOD wrote:Except that, you know, the investigation was started before Palin was a VP, so was Obama persecuting her even before then? Wow that man's good. See here's the thing, if he's that good of a forecaster it argues for him becoming President

And... Yegads. When I first heard this, I was half expecting McCain to drop her (can he?) from the ticket. But no, it's amazing what they'll say...

Frankly I see this as a reason to vote for Obama. I don't care that he set in motion a scheme to manipulate an ethics committee to discredit his political opponents, I more interested in the fact that he has supernatural powers. The implications are, he can see the future, he can travel through time, he can control multiple people's minds from hundreds of miles away, or any combination of the above.NecronLord wrote:Hail Eldrad Obama, High Farseer of Craftworld America...
More seriously, this is no surprise whatsoever, it just has the effect of confirming what was already known. I think it will have salutary effects, though, because it will dog Palin for the rest of her political career, and possibly even cripple her. She won a primary challenge against the GOP old boys network in Alaska on a reform ticket, and rather promptly abused her power as flagrantly as her predecessor ever did.

I may have to change my vote. I can get behind a black president, but not a precognitive president.

My litmus test for Republican thinking comes up with some interesting rebuttals, as it were.

Well, if you go to the Fox website, then click on US news, then click on election news, you get an innocuous one-sentence hyperlink to a story about the McCain/Palin ticket trying to put the whole thing behind them.wautd wrote:So what is Goebb... I mean Fox News spin on this?
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

Fuck. I thought that was an Onion article for a moment.CaptJodan wrote:They already have.Max wrote:You know Palin supporters are going to argue that the people who conducted this are 'Obamassiah' (tm) supporters, and are just out to get her...
Source: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/10/1 ... te-report/McCain-Palin 2008 Statement on ‘Troopergate’ Report
McCain-Palin 2008 spokeswoman Meg Stapleton issued the following statement on today’s release of Stephen Branchflower’s report:
“Today’s report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates what we’ve known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country.”
