Frankly, I think it's because of society. The fundie-ruled periods in Protestant Europe and early America were essentially 'SEX! BAD!'. Then, into the early modern ages, in whichit was 'Sex! Naughty!'

Now, America, mostly, is in the 'Sex! Teehee!' periods, whilst much of Europe, those fundie influences vanished, and Japan, those fundie influences never existing, have entered the stages of 'Sex. Cool!' and in some cases the early stages of 'Sex? Eh.'

But are you 100% sure it's official? There are tons of unofficial garage kit manufacturers in Japan, so this might be one of them, depending on who the manufacturer is.

Yes, except you're missing the whole point we get pissed off; it's in taking 10 pages to have to repeat over and over to 2-3 people the Eva equivalents of "it's becasue Darth Vader was Luke's father. He said it at the end of Empire Strikes back, weren't you watching?!" or "Where did you get the idea there was only one Death Star, or that it all took place in the same system?"
