1. It's one of those stupid religious things that no one with half a brain would understand the reasons for, like the prohibition against a man hearing a woman singing in Judaism (again, ignored by many, many Jews).

2. It's a hadith: There will be people from my Ummah (community of Muslims) who will seek to make lawful: fornication, the wearing of silk, wine-drinking and the use of musical instruments.

here is the complaint.

I think it is foolish for a controversy to arise out of this. It is an arbitrary bit of dogma and just as with the PZ Myers host issue I fail to see why a group that does not adhere to this religion must still force itself to obey its tenants or face retaliation. That said, I've been watching the responses on various video game forums all weekend and frankly I've been disgusted by the response. I'm still trying to figure out if there is just this much rampant bigotry against muslims in the "gamer" community, or if it is just a severe case of self-centeredness that "how dare they make me wait 4 days to play a video game" is triggering this much anger and hate.
Oh I wish it were the latter, but bigoted responses tend to be the norm on most gamer websites.

Here are some other examples:

Gamers also think that scholarships for women are misandrist.

LOOOOOOL WIMMINZ M I RITE?!

And how dare someone say that a trailer for a game has imagrey that is worryingly close to old racist propaganda!

That last article I read months ago and found total bullshit. The context of the game is quite obvious to anyone who happens to know anything about the series, only apparently making a fuss about white or Hispanic zombies isn't as fun. Clearly a white guy holding a gun, surrounded by black people in Africa means RAMPANT RACISM.

The rest is well accepted. Gamer forums are full of total 'tards.

Sony could be having some kind of problem with there much-hyped game, and are using this as a cover to do a quick fix and not piss everyone off for having overlooked problem.
Nope. A mate of mine works at Sony Liverpool as a tester and it's been ready to go for at least a month. Given that they've actually recalled the discs and removed the audio, it's almost certainly the truth.

Well yeah, I'm not saying he was right about RE 5 being racist, however, the community response was more bigoted shit like the responses to the other articles.

Busybody parents groups and the anti-video game crusaders would go apeshit.
So your take isn't that the Islamic community minds their holy scripture being mined for quotes, just that the quotes in question make for bad PR because they sound violent? Talk about bolting the barn after the beast has fled.
Actually I was just talking about Sony's motivating for pulling the game rather then just issuing a patch, but that's a very real possibility. It would generate almost as much bad PR for the Islamic community as it would for Sony and video games in general, so that could definitely be the reason the complaint was filed. I'm sure they'd prefer if no one knew the Qur'an contained such phrases.

Uhm well, but "everything will perish" is pretty basic "wisdom" isn't it? Like "ashes to ashes, dust to dust".

Yes, but this sounds like it's describing the end of the world.
