I have to say that I really disagree with this sentiment, which smacks of the "both sides are wrong" Golden Mean. An administration made up of partisan left-wingers would not be ideal but it would still be vastly better than the Bush administration has been. Progressive ideology has a lot of advantages over the social conservative/neocon miasma that Bush used, like respect for science, wariness of the use of force, and the belief that the government can actually accomplish things, just to name a few.
Radicalism in any form is bad, you can be a radical centrist if you so wish. There are plenty of far left nutjobs out there who I'd fear just as much as a neocon, but that's not to say leaning left is bad just as leaning right is, because I'd much rather we lived in a more liberal society than a more conservative one, myself being very liberal despite my parents being some big fans of the Tories. It should simply be remembered that harm can come from those who take extremes too far, and a ecoterrorist is as much a threat as a religious zealot.

I find it's mostly Americans that seem to throw this black and white fallacy around though. You're either Karl Marx, or you're Ronald Reagan. Apparently a good mix of ideologies is as horrible as mixed race marriage to many.

I don't think this is significant in the context we're talking about because neither of these groups have tangible influence. Yes, you can find extremists on both sides, but in terms of people holding extreme beliefs who also have political cache the right has the left beat, at least in America.

Oh, for sure. It'd just be ironic to kick out the neocons and then some radical leftist group comes out of the blue and enslaves you all. I'd have trouble sleeping, y'know. From the hilarity.

It is very simple, politics is not unlike driving a car - if you spin the wheel too far right or too far left, you crash the car. America in the 2000s is in some ways not unlike Soviet Russia was in the 1980s, with an illogical economic ideology not sustaining itself and causing damage to the national fabric, and the overfunded military bursting at the seams while being stuck in a guerilla quagmire causing international embarassment.

I doubt GWB will go down as well as Ronald Reagan, since Ronald Reagan precided over the fall of the Soviet Union, he didn't take the US Military into genuinely catastrophic misadventures while generously funding it, and his on hindsight destructive economic policies weren't so obviously detrimental to the general population who were migrating enmasse into a then ballooning service economy.
