There's this darling little blurb in the manual for British owners: the instructions for assembling the mains plug. British consumer electronics were sold with bare electrical wires for the longest time; I knew about it, but seeing the instructions for hooking up the wires is still a big "WTF?" moment.

You can always play a record and get your ears really near to the cartridge, because you'll hear if it works at all And if you're really, really quiet you can listen to a whisper of music this way.
