I thought Andromeda was never great, but it seemed fairly watchable and competent when Wolf was in charge, and from what relatively little I saw of it I kinda liked characters such as Tyr Anasazi and that alien who resembled a bipedal bat. But of course Sorbo's ego went critical he booted Wolf and the show went down the toilet in earnest and I saw one post-Wolf episode on ITV 4 (or something) and it was vapid shit comparable to Smallville, post-S1 Heroes, or S1 Robin Hood.

Chuck's point was valid though, Leda's leaving Bashir, a brave, super-intelligent, ubermensch medical doctor for a mutt like Rom comes across like nerd fanservice.
Oh, I agree completely. I was just throwing out my shout for Rom before anyone accused him of being a bad character, which I don't believe he is.

Another good review. I would have preferred that Risa remain a constantly mentioned, yet never seen pleasure planet. That way it's all left to the imagination.

The ENT crew visit Risa in Two Days and Two Nights. It was a so-so episode by ENT standards.

In regards to Andromeda, i see a lot of it as being the Textbook example of Good Ideas/Bad execution, coupled with a subpar budget (at least early on). They had more than suffient ideas established early on to be reworked into an exelent show if fleshed out properly, then things got stupider and stupider with mindless baggage.

In Regards to this episode's reveiw, once again i take my hat is off for your sucess at making fun of the lack-there-of of others. Although one thing i am suprised that you did not talk about was one not civilizations as Risa also is probably one of the better examples of them, especially since they were pre federation (via Enterprise's conformation) in operating like that.

A few years back I found this episode and, to my surprise, found that I had somehow missed this episode from the DS9 run.

I think my mind had somehow made me skip it without realizing, but the effect had worn off when I said 'better watch this then!'

Oh God, I couldn't work out if I was supposed to cringe or snore at different times...

Outstanding work as always Chuck. Now how about reviewing a DS9 episode like 'Far Beyond the Stars', one of the weirdest but downright most *awesome* ST episodes ever.

tim31 wrote:Question for Mr Chuck, which I may not get an answer to: how do you find the character of Ezri Dax in comparison to Jadzia? Or is that an issue for another video?
The problem with Ezri was her one season -and a season where they were wrapping things up and had these overarching stories going. It's a bit hard to gauge her because so much time is spent in those moments - for Jadzia, probably 80% of the time in those kinds of situations, she was alright, but outside she was the annoying sorority girl. I do really like the approach of Ezri not being one of the trained recipients and being way out of her league, but because of all that went on there wasn't enough time to really explore that.

The links to this episode on your main and video pages go to the review of "Shadows of P'Jem" instead...

I really enjoy watching these video reviews, but a part of me cringes at being reminded of all the stupidity I had suppressed from conscious memory. Case in point: all the immature sexual teasing and stupid character non-development in this episode. Every Star Trek Risa episode makes me long for the maturity of the Edo in "Justice".

They at least made life interesting... by threatening to make it short.

Also, they did almost execute Wesley, a plus in the minds of the vast majority of Trek fans. 8)

Sadly they were never seen again and were left mostly undeveloped. Granted, that's where amateur writers like me can step in and try to pad them out....
