Re: Fighting Police Corruption
In a single scenario, yeah. I took his statement to mean their response to any given scenario would place emphasis on loyalty over integrity if they were in conflict.
Re: Fighting Police Corruption
The problem is that Ryan implied that in any scenario where someone rats out a colleague the trouble he will likely incur from his other colleagues would not be significant. I was pointing out that to a lot of cops (not just cops, but them in particular) loyalty can hold greater importance than integrity, because they depend on each other more so than normal people with regular jobs depend on their coworkers. Loyalty and integrity are not mutually exclusive, but we are talking about combating corruption, and corruption implies that loyalty to each other outweighs any other consideration. It's tough being a whistleblower.

With regards to the fulltime cop-cam idea;
Obviously it's only of use in claims of unlawful shootings and such, and it's still a little too big to be practical, but the idea clearly exists.

Yeah the other idea that I've seen floating around is head-mounted ones, like this one currently being tested in the field by taser (yes, that Taser)JointStrikeFighter wrote:With regards to the fulltime cop-cam idea;

Afaik the UK did a fairly successful trial of head-mounted cams a while back, and with their current love of CCTV cams it's only a matter of time before they see wide scale deployment imho.
Personally I think head mounting is the way to go, no added weight/bulk to the gun to impede the officer, and probably less likely to cause the entire courtroom to barf if the officer needs to run after a suspect with his weapon out. (a headcam would bob up and down wildly, a guncam...)
