OK, this just made me LOL.

Check the list of the countries which approved yesterdays resolution. Just about all of them have been involved in serious human rights abuses. How many of them faced any consequences - or even a fraction of the scrutiny (note I'm talking about actions by the UN and similiar bodies, not NGOs) Israel has undergone?
Is this supposed to make more settlement building okay? That some other shithole does things worse elsewhere?

What fucking consequences are you talking about for Israel? They are building settlements at an even faster rate than before and are funded to the tune of billions of dollars by the American tax payer. Israel has not faced any consequence of any real kind for it's squatting.

In case you missed it, I never addressed whether Israel should or should not face consqeuquences for anything; I was saying that I found the notion that there's an international norm where countries are called to account for their transgressions which Israel is uniquely avoiding to be ludicrous.

And in the West Bank settlers get 80% of the water and 40% depite being 1% of the population. These settlements can expand wily nily, and Israel can still launch armored raids into Gaza. Plus, Israel doesn't assimilate them. Jews can vote in the territories, Palestinians aren't allowed too, and Israel ensures that the settlements get the majority of the water. Also, the one time the Palestinians genuinely commited, Israel offered them the most one sided Peace Agreement since Versailles which would have turned them into Israel's bitch. And Israel didn't make their concessions even though the Palestinians made theirs. Heres a hint: In 1997, 80% of the palestinains are in favor of peace. After Camp David, less then 15% are. Coincidence. Besides, Memri's not an impartial source, and their are sources within Israel which criticise them. Ohh, but their dirty traitors so they don't count right  . I used to be a bit like you Shep. Then when I actually looked at reliable sources I realized that blind support of Israel was stupid.

Well the "Jews" are Israeli citizens so it is hardly surprising that they have the vote is it, you can vote even if you live abroad as long as you keep your citizenship. Israel's arab population also have the vote, the only arabs in the mid-east who can vote in deocratic elections. Since Israel formally annexed Jerusalem the Arab population there should also have the right to vote in Israeli elections.

That annexation wasn't recognised by anybody. It is about as valid as Germany's annexation of Poland. The settlements are not recognised by anybody either. In fact, they are opposed by the entire world, the United States included.

Israeli officials admitted that for all intents and purposes, they started the wars in which they gained their territories, hence it's illegality. And there is the fact that it's totally hypocritical to claim that you sipport equal rights and then deprive over 99% of the people you conquer voting rights.

Oh, and Shep. Do you think anyone who criticizes Israel even slightly is an anti-semite. The fact that Jews were forced to flee doesn't make the Israeli's bullying the Arabs into fleeing (by massacaring 120 thus making them afraid) any more justified.

As for the arabs being evicted from their homes? I have links right here. The Palestinian claim might be weak, but it's more legit then the Israeli claim.
