And those that did regretted it.

Given that he compares the PT unfavorably to the OT several times (especially the romance of Han and Leia vs that of Anakin and Padme), I think it's likely they would be positive reviews. Which isn't to say they'd be hagiographic; I'm sure he'd have criticisms of them, but he does seem to respect them, especially the first two.Prometheus Unbound wrote:You could be right. I've only seen a couple of times he's done it and each time it has been about the prequels specifically, rather than "Star Wars".Srelex wrote:The Prequels he doesn't like definitely--I think he is a fan of the OT, or at least was.
Either way, I don't think the 2009 review from RLM is a secret hand shake or nod to Pegg's views etc.
There's lots of people out there who are jaded by the prequels. I also get the feeling that if he reviewed the OT (pick one of the elevnty versions out there) it'd be mostly positive.
Just as note to those wondering because they aren't listening, he does say in his AoTC review that he considers ESB his absolute favorite movie of all time, ANH is a great favorite of his but he does lay criticism to RoTJ because of Ewoks.Prometheus Unbound wrote:You could be right. Everytime I see a pic of Simon Pegg on the internet he seems to be wearing a Star Wars t-shirt from the OT. Also, my wife and I recently picked up the Simon Pegg series "Spaced" on Netflix. Great show, the Brits really know how to do humor. Simon Pegg's character makes tons of references to the OT and how he favors it over the prequels. It is such a homage at times that you definitely get the feeling he has a certain reverence for the OT.Channel72 wrote:
This is the only (mostly) positive RLM review I know of. Considering that Simon Pegg helped generate some buzz about RLM's original Phantom Menace review, I wonder if "Plinkett" felt obligated to be a bit softer this time around.
Which would be rather lame and pathetic, if that's true.
doubtful.
Pegg doesn't like Star Wars and has passive-aggressively attacked it in interviews before.
