Uh, no.
Oh, and if you are in a university setting and have to travel, sometimes Mac will have huge problems with configuring wireless lan.
Sometimes any laptop will have problems with WLAN? This is not exclusive to Macs.
It has gotten to the point that some people had to create whole new user accounts just because Mac refuses to accept changes to wlan or has some hidden stuff that prevents a complete change.
Can you elucidate on those issues? I've never seen them (granted, I tend to be around compsci types a lot - and Macs are pretty common here).
Oh, and no VGA port forces you to carry around a stupid adapter if you ever want to give a presentation on a beamer.
VGA is a dying port and it's only a matter of time until most of the other guys ditch it too (business-grade laptops might soldier on a bit longer).

Person came from Italy. Tried to use Wlan at local university. Wlan refused to have its settings changed, so new user account had to be created. It is also funny how we never have problems with Windows, but with Mac it has become so bad our head guys refuse to even do tech support for it.

Problem is I do not know of any university which does not use VGA for Beamer access.

Could you please elaborate on this please?

Macs have become extremely common in US academia and research (faculty, staff, scientist, student) - I wonder if further and earlier penetration resolved a lot of these issues that you seem to have crop up.

I know. The solution is going to be that people will have to remember their dongle, borrow someone else's or be screwed.

VGA is outdated and needs replacement but soldiers on because it is a least-common-denominator and there remains a lot of display equipment that only supports it. DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort are all superior technologies.
