Nah. Palpatine has more in common with Gaius Julius Caesar than Adolph Hitler. Or, at least, Palpatine would like to be compared with Caesar rather than Hitler.

All that a Google search on that name gives is a bunch of fan-fiction and rumors. Do a search on "Cos Palpatine" and you'll get the same stuff, but more of it.

By the way, what does "Darth" mean? Is it a title, or something all Sith lords call themselves when they change your name?

And why did the Emperor revert to Palpatine from Darth Sidious?

(I would call Sidious a slight improvement).

It's the first name of the only Sith Lord to survive the battle which wiped out the Sith a millenia before. The Sith that followed took it as a way to honor their predecessor and it gradually evolved into the semi-title thing it is now.
