Darn edit window...

Ghetto Edit: It's also possible I'm completely wrong/off-base there. If so, I'll gladly concede the point. ;)

Remember that the E-C was already shot to hell thanks to those kindly Romulans at Narendra III and that the same Birds of Prey later made mincemeat of a hitherto undamaged Galaxy.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Like I said, I only had the E-C to go off of. And the only thing going to the future gained it was some breathing space, it would have died either way.

Romulan's wrecked a Galaxy? Really?

EDIT: Or are you talking about the Klingons? In that case, I may have caused some confusion...when I said 'Birds of Prey' I was talking about the TOS Plasma-Torp Romulans. Not the Klingons. And I only brought that up since I figured that the Romulan ships at Narendra III were probably closer to that than the D'Deridex. Of course, I don't think Canon (or even the ST EU) gives us any more detail to confirm that.

*shrugs*

I was rather assuming you were talking about the Klingon ships, what with us having no clue what number nor manner of ships the E-C faced at Narendra III other than them being Romulan.

I've heard that it was three (I think) Warbirds. Can't for the life of me figure out where. And of course, that doesn't give us much even if I heard right.

EDIT: According to Memory Alpha it was FOUR Warbirds. No details on class though.

Actually now you mention it I do think Captain Garret said they were up against three Romulan Warbirds in the episode. But as you said, that doesn't tell us much.

There is at least one book that deals with the Narenda III fight. Vulcan's Heart And the vessels there are described as basically TNG Warbird precursors. I think there were more than 3 as well.

There as a fleet of 7 iirc but they were attacked by the Romulan protagonist (the female commander from TOS) before reaching Narenda so there were less when they fought the E-C.
