Private practice update:
Last night I scored 100 for singing "Nowhere Man" really really badly.
I scored 95 for singing half of The Offspring's "What In The World Happened To You".
I scored 99 for Radiohead's "Creep". I actually think that song suited me (in more ways than one ). By keeping my voice at the right octave (medium low) the melody and mood was pretty much on target. Almost like Bowie in his early nasal stage. I could even hold on to notes in that song, which I'd never thought I'd manage.
"Piano Man", "Hooked On a Feeling" and "Video Killed the Radio Star" sounded OK enough to sing in front of a group without too much embarrasment. Perhaps I could add Lennon's "Starting Over" and "Jealous Guy".
It seems that the automatic scoring system is EXTREMELY generous if you even attempt a fast song. That's the only theory I have to explain my experiences.
Ever done the karaoke thing?
