Oy. Don't get that debate started up again. It's been a pain in the ass here before. The consensus is that they were not Negroid, but they weren't lily-white either, and our modern definition of race didn't exist back then, plus historical commentators are coloured by their cultural biases, and so forth. So it's a non-issue really because there are more important things to be concerned about as far as studying their history goes.chitoryu12 wrote: Speaking of which, has there ever been a consensus on just how "black" Ancient Egyptians were? I see claims that they were similar to modern Egyptians and claims that they were very dark-skinned and displaced by immigration/conquest.
And Hollywood movies that keep casting white people from the UK.
As for Hollywood... well, yeah, that's been part of the problem for a long time. Americans are just hung up on English accents, or English actors putting on American accents anyway. There might be an argument that English actors tended to be better than American, but I don't think that's particularly true these days.
What's slightly more atrocious is the flagrant race-bending that goes on all the time. The Last Airbender is just one of the worse examples, as is that recent Moses movie with Christian Bale.
