I have, and a large chunk of my experience with refugees in the immediate systems is not far removed from Comicalstorm's hyperbole. Motivation and underpinning logic are different, as are the proposed solutions but in terms of short term tactics of desperate people, as I said, my experience does not contradict his stories.

I've refrained from posting them in this thread as it is anecdote, and systematically biased in favour of the worst cases where my wife would get called in for but don't get too high and mighty in dismissing his cases.

There's a lot of damaged, scared refugees who would be killed if they return. There's a lot of rather nasty people. Sometimes they are even the same person, or the same family. Complex, horrible situations that have come up time and time and time again in human history.
