Hows this for "Excelsior" During a test of transwarp drive (it had both in ST:6, according to this.), the ship encounters a wormhole, shooting it forward in time to the Post Nemesis era. Captain Sulu, upon discovering the train wreck that is the modern federation. The disappearance of the ship was presumed to be due to Transwarp, and the project was scrapped.

Now a century out of time Sulu and his crew must make defeat the evil and opressive communist future federation, and restore free thought to the galaxy.

In game the K'Tingas were very nasty customers, especially if you got caught in it forward firing arc. Heavy Torpedo plus 6 heavy disrupters, could ruin your day in a hurry.

The Excelsior is still one of my favorite ships in all the ST universe , just wish that the FASA game was still around, the minis were amazing and the game itself was fun.

The Excelsiors Transwarp drive is the precurser to the improved Warp drive of the E-D which caused them to change the warp scale.
