I saw the middle part of this episode on Wed. I liked the part about the Klingons not all being warriors and speaking of a "decline" of their culture.
But otherwise the show seemed copied and pasted from ST:6 and other episodes. It seems like nobody even cares to write something original.

No they do care, they go to great pains to avoid anything original.

So are these fools even going to try to address the "Mongolian" Klingon vs. "Bumpy" Klingon issue?

Probably not, given how they've been trying to rewrite trek continuity they'll probably make the Bumpy klingons the norm.
