A bonus of having the Northwestern Oil Emirate controlled is that you deny your opponent the NA bonus, and if you place a number of armies and a Space Station there, you have a virtually invincible fortress.
And if you play the Land Death Trap card, it only gets better...
That's bastard Risk. Real Risk is the Risk everyone knows, with only one way in and out of Australia.

What do YOU do?, is there one amongst you that can start in Asia and not get raped?

There are those who swear that is you start the game in control of Madagascar you are garunteed to win. I have beaten many people you thought that!
What do the rest of you think about this theory?

BLASPHEMER! STRIKE DOWN THE HEATHEN!
Actually, just givin' ya crap. Risk is a fine game and all, but real men play Diplomacy.
Amen to that. Who needs dice when we've fot knives to stick in each other's back? Austria sucks though unless there's a decent Italy playing. Getting hammered by a triple alliance at the start of the game sucks and Italy doesn't seem to realise he's going to come out of it worst of each time. Should always be an Austrias-Italian alliance. Though there is of course that little border problem. Fascinating dynamics having an unbalanced game.

SA and Africa virtually every time. Build up your forces, make small raids into Europe/NA to get Risk cards and let your opponents stretch themselves thin before you attack. Though I did win a game by simply holing up in Ausralia with just those 4 territories and an unbrekable defence in Indonesia. Everyone else wore their armies down so most countries were undefended and I was able to sweep across most of Asia, NA and Europe in 1 go, then complete the domination next turn. Fun, fun, fun. I generally don't go for Australia though because it's a pain going through Asia and I like to have more immediate influence on NA and Europe.

Build up forces in Australia, then break out through Asia, taking the entire Asian continent and much of Europe and North America in a single turn.

It just...
wrong to do it that way. I mean Australia? New Zealand? I just can't take the diea of them taking over the world seriously. And where's that big army coming from? Are most of the enlisted 'men' actually just the brighter sheep of the flock? I suppose the USN trained dolphins to attach mines, so why not train sheep to operate a claymore.

Yes....
Just like how the Federation is far superior to The Empire...
