Those foam cheap ass flip flops are HORRIBLE. Especially when I see women strolling the streets of NYC with those things on. DO they have ANY CLUE what kind of filth is on those streets and sidewalks, seriously, the thought repulses me. And for extra sceeviness try seeing these girls in flip flops in the SUBWAYS - YIKES are you asking for some mutant infection to latch on to your toes?! And pretty feet just are not done justice in those damn flip flops.

Usually its the tourists though, them or college girls. Most other women have the decency to wear real sandals or proper footwear. Definately one of my peeves of the summer.

You haven't seen stupid until you've seen people wearing flip flops with socks on in the winter. Flip flops are good for two things--walking to and from the pool and as poor man's shower shoes when you have to use a dorm shower (better to look stupid than to pick up some kind of foot herpes or man-eating fungus from the asshat in there before you).

LoL, I've been known to wear socks with my black flip flops. Granted it wasn't fucking winter. To the original post, sometimes I'll see some fuckers walk around barefoot, and since the weather is hitting hot temps, I'm going to venture out and guess that I'll be seeing some barefoot mother fuckers in the Kroger.

No they are not.

The worst I see is the cheap ass ones, the REALLY cheap foam/almost work out/some hidious pink color ones. To me it's like that girl but NO effort into trying to dress. Just slung on those damn flip flops, which look UGLY, especially when they are otherwise decently dressed.

Though most girls who wear flip flops are the really heavy ones. One can only guess why... I'd put my opinion here, but probably only get flamed for it.

Aw, fuck it... I think it's because they have too much trouble getting their fat feet (and the fet ARE fat, VERY fat) into normal closed toe shoes. Which is probably why they STILL have the same fucking things on in the winter, just with socks...

Errr......I like to wear flip flops. I think they're cute. I think they're summery, and I wear them because I like them, not because I give a shit what other people think about my feet, my footwear or how much time they consequently think I spend getting ready in the morning. Can you REALLY begrudge a woman a pair of shoes she can just slide effortlessly onto her feet when the rest of the time she has to wear pantyhose and high heels? Fuck off.

Yellowtext: Evidently...yes.

But there are plenty of other shoes one can slip in without effort that look nicer than flip flops. And I refer mostly to the CRAPPY flip flops. Though rare, I have seen some decent look ones.

And at the beach or vacation and stuff, I wouldn't have a problem. But wearing them to WORK and/or SCHOOL?

But, I'm sorry, if I like to wear them, I think they're comfortable, and they're VERY cool to wear in the summer (especially when I teach in an un-airconditioned school), I'm going to wear them. I have about ten pairs, ranging from some cute frou-frou ones to very stylin' ones, some pretty inexpensive, some fairly pricey. All that look good and all that I enjoy wearing. They look perfectly appropriate with the work clothes I wear, they are a hell of a lot more stylish than any other slip-on shoes I've found AND THEY KEEP MY FEET COOL. They are fuctional.

Well, come step into my life as a working chick for a couple days in the middle of June with no airconditioning and see if your stance changes.

Depends upon area of life.

In say NYC...I don't blame Stravo a bit...the thought of wearing flip flops...oi.

When I was in California...around San Fran...I had no trouble wearing the silly things.

Around DC...same feeling as NYC...sorry the place i ugggggly in terms of foot anything.

So honestly for me it depends upon area.

I think some girls in flip-flops look good (Good-looking feet are a turn on for me), but only when it matches with the rest of the dress. Sometimes, you might as well wear sneakers.

Well, I'm assuming that Zaia isn't exactly refering to the cheep thin foam flip-flops with the shitty plastic foot straps that you wear to shower in college or wore to the beach as a kids. They are usually white on top and red, green, or blue on the bottom and being the colour of the shitty plastic strap.

Is that in any way correct, dear?

Isn't that against some sort of health regulations? You know, the ones that dictate you need a shirt and shoes to be served? Or does that only apply to restaurants?

It's been pointed out to me, numerous times, by my RL female aquaintences (if I spelt that right I'd be amazed) that I have the fashion knowledge/sense of something between a warthog and a grain of dirt. They think my clothes are nerdy and look dumb, because I won't put FUBU, Mecca, Sean John, and dragons all over them.

I live in Florida, wear nothing but long pants and black work boots, and my school's air conditioning works about 1/3 of the time on a good week (to say nothing of my damn house. Why we don't just replace the thing is beyond me).

Yes...let me see if I can dig up a link so you boys can critique my footwear for me. I like the ones I own (obviously), so I'm not going to change for you, but I'd be curious to see what you'd have to say about them.
