IMO, it's worse to be evil. Evil has probably killed more people than stupidity has (Hitler+Stalin+Mao+Pol Pot...)

Sadism isn't evil in its entirety.. not always in all senses, anyways. Sadism could be inferred as a love of instilling emotional damage, but that is SO not a good thing.. And there are other things, but yes, it can actually be a good thing when it's manifested upon a masochist...
