Here's my view: Let them swear at home (excpet, perhaps, when guests are over) but caution them not to overuse it. The thing is, in my opinion, if these words become constant vocabulary, it's almost like you've lost that word for when you stub your toe in the darkness or things just go wrong.

One mother I talked to said that obsceneties "had no place", but I beg to differ. If they had no place, they wouldn't be in our language. I think we need only go to that audio clip entitled "The usage of the word F*ck" to show that.
Music can name the un-nameable and communicate with the unknowable.
