All Obi-wan says in ANH is he doesn't seem to remember ever OWNING a droid. He never says he doesn't remembeer R2. As for Chewie:

Obi-wan: "Chewbacca here is first mate on a ship that might suit us"

Obi-wan shows that he's never heard of the Falcon before. That does NOT mean he's never met Chewie.

IIRC Games Storylines can count as cannon. Well according to Galactic Battle Grounds Qui Gon helped a very young Chewie and his dad set up a colony world and indeed pat of the story was that Obi Wan was involved. Maybe thats why Obi Wan approaches Chewie in the 1st place, they have experience. Maybe?

That would be very cool to see. But I doubt we'll be going far enough in where the Emperor is free to do something like that with no resistance from the senate. Actually, no, he could easily make something up, so I guess it IS possible.

The chances of Lucas adhereing to EU, let alone GBG, is slim to none, I mean, hell. One of the few things I think he actually used from EU was the name Coruscant if I remember correctly.

I doubt it matters what Chewie did GBG. He'll probably long moved on from that.

The city-planet appeared in early script drafts under the name Had Abbadon, then came to life in 1997's Special Edition in a revised final scene showing celebrations across the galaxy. But he'd also know the Jedi were wiped out, if he didn't know Kenobi personally he'd have no reason to trust him.

Yeah, I can understand getting confused from that...It's Coruscant, Alderaan, and Cloud City all mixed up into one.

In the original drawings, the galactic capital was like Coruscant as we know it--glittering planet-wide city.

By ROTJ, it had evolved into Had Abbadon. Had Abbadon was more like Byss. It was a cloudy, bleak, and dark world with a Imperial city and other cities but no planet-covering cityscape.

It didn't make it into ROTJ, but WEG took the Imperial city concept and named it Imperial Center.

Zahn came along and went back to the original drawings and the Foundation series Trantor to envision Coruscant.

I'm pretty sure WEG mentioned the name Coruscant as the Imperial capital in one of their sourcebooks. I'll see if I can find it...

No I'm wrong, I had a vague memory something, but it refered to 'Imperial City'.
