Do you have automatic log in? And do you have an SDnet cookie on your machine?Temjin wrote:That's weird.
Every time I go to the forum index, I automatcially get logged out. But my name still appears on the Who's Online list.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I think I figured out the problem.Rob Wilson wrote:Do you have automatic log in? And do you have an SDnet cookie on your machine?
Actually, I'm from Canada.Rob Wilson wrote: Ah another UK resident.I have on occasion averaged 40-50 GBs a day for a few weeks while I've been out of town and left Kazaalite running (you should have seen the list of uploads) and nary a word from my ISP. oh, it's just that BT over here (the only real ADSL provider) has a bandwidth cap similar to the one you described. Anyway, as part of the Commonwealth, we own you so nyaahxtreme wrote:Actually, I'm from Canada.Rob Wilson wrote: Ah another UK resident.I have on occasion averaged 40-50 GBs a day for a few weeks while I've been out of town and left Kazaalite running (you should have seen the list of uploads) and nary a word from my ISP. With 61 it was running smooth and thats 3/4s the maximum it's ever had at one time, so it bodes well.Sea Skimmer wrote:We'll with less then twenty people on its running as fast as ever for me, the limit is my 56K connection. I doubt that will last when we reach the afternoon in North America.
I guess so, I didn't notice this was from yesterday. Though it also depends on what rate people view pages.Rob Wilson wrote:

Well I did some light posting last night during the high numbers and it seemed to be fine, though with the server at his house Mike will be able to dig up some proper load stats himself rather than our guess work.Sea Skimmer wrote:I guess so, I didn't notice this was from yesterday. And on that note we'll leave the spam for now.
Yes, but that wasn't the problem. The Apache server daemon died on MJ's system. He's got some kind of software bug (his server is considerably more complex than mine, which strictly runs Apache and PHP/MySQL, with no open ports besides those that Apache needs).Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:Anyway, so that's what happened! Did you get my email with the Tracerts and all that crap, Mike?
That is a good example of why Linux has its advantages as a server OS. The company Im temping for uses Linux on its NAS boxes, and most of the competition like Iomega are going for Windows.Darth Wong wrote:[Computergeek]

512MB of PC100 RAM
30GB Quantum Fireball LM hard drive
Mandrake Linux OS
Onboard video/audio (not that it matters; the machine runs with no monitor or speakers connected anyway).
DSL connection to Internet (3Mbps download speed, 640kbps upload speed)

Yeah, DSL can actually handle an amazing amount of load. About the only time the activity indicator on my own DSL modem goes nuts is when I'm running Gnucleus, all three computers in the house are downloading something, and somebody is getting a large file off my Linux server.Darth Wong wrote:The only real impact on my system seems to be the wildly flashing lights on my DSL modem
Ah, okay. Boy that server burp sent me into a temper tantrum too. There were bad jujus about that day...Darth Wong wrote:Yes, but that wasn't the problem.
