I still think a Boba Fett pulls a "Hidden Fortress" / "Blade Runner" and saves Han and Leia's bacon in the final ground battle when everyone least expects it would have been a nice Deus Ex Machina, revealing that the cloning process that made him such an uber bad ass was killing him anyways.

I like this idea. You could do several fanfics based on it, with the conflict between Vader/Moffs, Imp/Rebel, and Father/Son. Properly done, it could beat any of the current novels out.

Empire wins senarios are total wankery.

I actually like the movie as is (except for some of the SE stuff like Jedi rocks).

I'd combine the SE ending with the original ending (why can't we take an extra minute and show both?). It was both a celebration of Endor's survival as much as it was a celebration of the overthrow of the Empire. Local, vs. global, etc. anyway...

All I can see fit to change would be to add more "fan wanking" by extending the space battle scene to include all the cool stuff we want to see, not just a few random explosions and fighters going into the DS2...

Extending the lightsaber fight a little bit couldn't hurt either.

Having wookies instead of ewoks might be a cool idea, but making them utter primitives wouldn't quite jibe with Chewie, IMHO. Keep it as it is, but show more onscreen casualties, on both sides, and make it clear that Stormies who are just punched aren't stone-cold dead. Basically making the battles longer and more violent would add much more impact overall.

Less quick cutting and more actual cutting (dismemberment) in the battle over Carkoon. That was a good fight but could have been much better, which leads me to...

I did do a fanfic ages ago on an alternate ending to RotJ. In my ending Luke went on, as before to beat Vader, but when Palpy goaded Luke Luke thinks about how the light side is based on lies and that Vader Nor the Emperor never lied to whol while Yoda and Ben did. Because ot this Luke gives himself to the Darkside and kills Vader, a swift thrust to the heart. From there the Imperial Fleet mops up the Rebels and then blows up Endor. In tribute to my favourite fanfic authot i also had Palpy dub Skywalker Lord Nemesis.
