It was extremely gratuitous (not to mention incestuous).
Yeah but Gabriel Byrne makes a great devil.

I think you've all missed out on the philosophical genius and beauty of Junior, possibly arnie's greatest movie. Shame on you!

I'm going to have to go with Preditor on this one. If only for the fact that the director wanted to work a love bit between Arnie and the woman into it but Arnie refused, saying something like, "He's in the jungle being chased by a monster! Why would be start kissing this girl?"

That and the alien saying, 'What the hell are you.' :)

I liked Total Recall, despite one of the most absurd environmental concepts ever written. Sharon Stone was really good in that one too.

The Terminator
Terminator 2
True Lies
Commando
EDIT: How could I have forgotten Predator!

End of Days wasn't really incestuous. The Mom and Daughter didn't fuck they just merged into one person that Gabe Byrne gave a swift rodger to. The nobel sacrafice galled me at the end. I want the Master, i mean Satan, to win just once.

I say Conan the Barbarian. Swords, Arnie, James Earl Jones, and a kickass soundtrack, what else do you need?
Half descent acting for one. Good production for another.

Best Arnie movie? Twins, or Kindergarden Cop.
BOOO!

:)

Arnold was still very much a crude actor in the first Conan, but good production? The film had that, and then some.

For the time, Conan: The Barbarian is really quite special IMO. Granted, I have a soft spot for Arnold; he was my inspiration to take up the iron game, and in my respects, I think he has the ideal male physique. He and a select few others were the last of the great bodybuilders, before things turned to advanced monsterbuilding.

But on its own merits, the film stands pretty strong. It was written by Oliver Stone and John Milius--John MILIUS! Milius is the man.

Still, I thought The Terminator and Predator are pretty strong contenders. T2 was pretty awesome. I also loved Total Recall.

Tough call for an Arnold fan like me.

Wasn't she?

She was really beautiful in the 80's, and sexy to boot. She hasn't aged badly, IMO, but something about her is just...different. She just hasn't done it for me post "Fatal Instinct."

I think Fatal Instinct was a spoof, wasn't it?

Yes :)

I always poke a little fun at BI, mostly because, when it came out, my friends made such noise about it that I disliked the film even before I saw it. When the Sean Young spoof came out, I started calling BI "Fatal Instinct" just to pick at them. I guess it kinda stuck, eh? :)

I think it's safe to say I like all of Arnie's films about the same....never saw Junior though. It just sounded absurd.

You mean the reactor? The director says that he believed the movie to be a dream, so he didn't give a fuck about the physics.

Then he went on to make "Starship Troopers," which was even more absurd but most definitely not a dream.

Have you ever seen the special edition Conan the Barbarian DVD with commentary by Ahnold and Milius? It sounded like they polished off a bottle of red wine before they recorded the commentary. If you're amused by drunken rambling, this is the DVD for you.

Pumping Iron was interesting because it made me realize just how much of the bodybuilding competitions were about the showmanship. Arnold crushed Lou Ferrigno's spirit and it showed when they were both posing out on stage. Arnold's posing had flair, Lou looked like he was trying to hide behind his own body (as odd as that might sound). If it hadn't been for the psychological games, I think Lou would have been a much closer match for Arnold (in my admittedly amateur-spectator opinion).

The first 2 Terminator movies were good (I have my doubts about the third one, but Kristana Locken is hot, so it automatically gets a free pass). My favorites had to be Predator and Commando, though.

Commando was probably the best live-action cartoon ever made and a personal Arnold best for hilariously bad lines. I also liked the end fight with George Michael's dad just for watching the ludicrous match-up of the olympian Arnold barely holding his own against some guy whose arms weren't as big around as Schwarznegger's dick.

I haven't seen Conan The Barbarian yet, and as yet my favourite Arnie flick is "Predator", with "Terminator" on a solid #2 place. Nah, to be fair, I like Terminator just as much, if only for the car chase.

hehe That made for great fun...flabby guy in chain mail leather suit with no sleeves being the big feard bad dude and a super commando who killed off all the others?

Oh boy... And did you notice the almost-required not-quite-so-gratuitous boob flashing scene in the hotel fight? :)

"If it bleeds, we can kill it"

Followed closely by

"Let me tell you of the days of HIGH adventure" (cue awesome Basil Poledouris theme)

T2 is arnie's greatest achievement.

I liked Last Action Hero and True Lies as his second tier films, and the only redeeming quality about Kindergarten Cop was his, "It's not a tumor" bit. Absolutely priceless comedy in that line.

 I agree (not that there's anything wrong with that) but the directer said that he wanted to make sure that everyone knew that she was naked under her robe while everyone was trying to kill her.

Actually, are you talking about the scene where The Man is having sex with his priest's wife & daughter? I was refering to the brief scene where Robin Tuney is getting ready for her shower. :)

I think they hired that guy soley on his part in The Road Warrior but they didn't bother looking at him more recently. :D Did anyone catch his act as one of the more recent main Power Rangers villans?

By the way, I noticed that no one has mentioned Batman & Robin. I don't like that movie, plus it's not really an Arnie movie, but unlike a lot of people I think Arnold is good in it. They Arnieized the character a bit but it's not unbelievable that someone like Freeze could develope a very twisted dark sense of humor. I did however, hate Poison Ivy and Bane in that movie <ack>. The Batrio wasn't that great either.
