I didn't see the DS9 finale, so I'm not voting in the poll.

Naturally, I'd say 'All Good Things' was much better than Endgame. I always like episodes with Q, even if they are Voyager ones. The moment when Picard realizes that he's doomed humanity by creating the anamoly and when the Enterprises are destroyed one by one were excellent. The theme of Q testing humanity seemed a little old by that point, but that was the only major flaw.

Endgame? Well, the less said the better. I still don't understand the ending, even though I suffered through it twice. Voyager is there one minute, about to be forced to exit the conduit back into the Delta Quadrant, then the Sphere appears in Federation space. It explodes and there's Voyager. I mean, WTF?!?!?!

All good things overall. But I have to say I loved Elim at the end of What You Leave Behind.

Just realizing that what Cardassias aspirations have cost their entire species...That was a good moment to me.

End Game, i was never happier when a show ended. :D

In all seriousness, while I enjoyed "What You Leave Behind", I think that "All Good Things" was a more fitting finale.

I would say "All good things" was probably the best, a good way to round off the Farpoint mission and Q's trial.

The best thing in "What You Leave Behind" was Garak's pyrric victory, the rest of the plot was more irritating than anything else but then I never liked the prophets, the parwraits or the Bajoran religous fanatics.

"Endgame" well it ended, perhaps we should leave it at that...

I can't decide between "All Good Things" and "What you leave Behind". "End Game" was just there, it sucked.

Stravo, what was Q about to say to Picard, you act as if you know and I'm curious as to what he was about to tell him.

I guess I will have to think about which to choose a little bit more. Wish me wisdom everybody.

I did not expect a good ending when I watched endgame. The episode was terrible but that was to be expected, this series began with "caretaker" when Janeway destroys voygers only way home to save some stupid species. It was clear that the ending too has to be stupid. I think the ending would have been better if it featured a federation assault on unimatrix zero that would destroy the borg and bring voyger home. It would have also given viewers the much expected massive fleet engagements between the federation armada and borg cubes.

"All good things" was the best trek finale. It had great story, excellent acting, and probobly the best appearence of Q. I do not mind the time travel plot at all since it is very well done. The future lives of the Enterprise crew were imaginatively done though Riker becoming an Admiral was unexpected. Still it was excellent.

For me it was way too close between AGT and WYLB, one had a big battle and many vengeful Cardassians. The other was like a masterpiece, it had it all, good plot, old style writing, and 3 Enterprises blowing up.

In the end, WYLB, JUST.

Come on the whole point of that was that the test never ends, in the end Q said "We'll be watching you...", the test is still not over. I could almost go for a TNG movie with Q IF it was well done and not fucked up like Nemesis was.

I was actually asking anyone else out there that might know what he was going to say because that always bugged me.

Broken Bow.

Oh wait, that as the end of a franchise not series.

And it sucked.

I missed a large chunk of Deep Space 9, all I can remember was about a season before the War, and though I was dissapointed to see DS9 end, I was really moved by it's ending, unlike the end of TNG. Probly cause I was younger when TNG ended and grew up on it.

It's hard to decide between "What You Leave Behind" and "All Good Things...." They were very different episodes. "What You Leave Behind" may have been better as a finale, but certainly I thought that "All Good Things..." was a better episode.

"All Good Things..." gets my vote. I didn't find "What You Leave Behind" to be any better than "Endgame", really. They both sucked shit IMHO.

"All Good Things" is the choice for me. It felt like an ending. I liked seeing the characters at the card table at the end. I didnt like some of the Riker/Worf squabbling. And of course there is the usual technobabble.
But over all it was a good ending.

Endgame, by far. From reading the posts here, it doesn't look like ANYONE saw it, and are going by "what they heard happened"

To review: Voyager was on its way home, through a Borg conduit, being chased by a sphere. They were about to be destroyed, and the Captain was told there was another conduit they could take to escape, but it led back to the Delta Quadrant. Janeway opts to change course...

Back at the AQ, the starfleet has massed around the Borg's re-entry point, and when it appears, all the ships fire on it, doing nothing. Voyager had put on the brakes, as it were, and maneuvered itself INTO the Sphere, and once the Sphere reached the AQ, Janeway launched the last transphasic torpedo INSIDE the Sphere, and shot out of it as the explosion consumed the Sphere. Voyager sails into the midst of the fleet, home and unscathed.

Damned fine ending, and I don't give a fuck if I'm the only one that has the balls to say so. 8)

I saw it. It was uninspired. I've never been a fan of Deux ex Machinas.

Endgame was just too predictable in that you knew they were going to get home. I think it would have been a better ending if they had not made it home, and that would have left open the possibility for a good Voyager movie that showed them getting home in 15 to 20 years in the future. I know you people think that Voyager was complete shit, but it had a few bright spots and it would be possible to make a good movie with the Voyager cast. (just don't let B&B write the fucking script or have anything to do with the movie  )

I vote for All Good Things... It was fun and good to watch, the last scene with Picard looking at everyone was great, storyline cool.

What You Leave Behind was good but too much jammed in.

Endgame...I'd rather call it EndSHAME...the entire series, no matter how good or bad the episodes were done, was wasted on that ending, the only fun was the armor and TTs and the Feddie fleet.

Edit: Some typos...

All Good Things. Definately. It had character, it had people who were there at the beginning (Tasha Yar), it wrapped up TNG in a non-wrappy up way, it didnt finish off the plot - the Enterprise was still out there, but the crew and captain were united more than they ever had been.

It also featured the rather nice (IMO) Pasteur, which I love as a design, and the Neghvah style Klingon ships, it was all fun.

What you leave behind was good, but I didnt like the way it jumped from fleet facing fleet straight to 'Heey, we won, didnt we (crowbar plot move)' it would have been nice to see the battle for Cardassia Prime taking place, or at least finishing off in the final episode. But what it also did was finish off the crew in a way that TNG didnt, there was no going back and no continuing from WYLB, I'm not sure whether that was a good thing or not.

Endgame - I disliked it as a concept, having to finish off Voyager with the weak-ass VGR Borg. I watched it, and in places I enjoyed it, but in the end, it was a poor climax for a poor show, IMO.

As a finale, where was 'Turnabout Intruder'? :)

That wasn't really a 'finale' so to speak as much as it just happened to be the last episode aired before TOS was cancelled.

I found it very contrived to have 3/4 of the main characters all go off on different assignments over the span of a week, after serving together for seven years.

Stravo wrote:All Good Things was a proper finale. It gave everyone some time in the spotlight and brought the series back to its beginning with Q and his trial of humanity. Can anyone guess what it was that Q was going to tell him near the end when he bends close to Picard's ear and then pulls back with a mysterious smile.
Throughout TNG Q hinted to Picard that humanity has the potential to advance to the same level as the Q themselves. It also ties in with what he said just before that about how, when Picard realized the paradox that for that moment incredible possibilities were opened to him. I think that Q was going to give him a more direct response with regards to humanity's potential. Then again it was open ended enough that the point was probably to have the fans think of many different things that it 'could have been'.
