I wonder, has anyone here actually played any of the WoD games?

Actually, Changlings are one of the better things to be in the WoD. Let's see, it sucks to be a vampire (literally and figuratively), werewolves are ok except everyone is against them except maybe fae, it's a bad thing to be a mage (the Technocracy wins, and besides, using your powers causes paradox*), wraiths are miserable bastards... I suppose being a Mummie is ok (not one of the options) as these mummies are not the lumbering type that case Abbott and Costello, but rather the sexy "young" twin glock mojo variety of mummie, but like werewolves, everyone is against them because they represent balance.

*Paradox is the effect of reality exacting balance on you for doing something against the general paradigm of humanity. This means that on the whole, humanity accepts that there are a certain number of things that are true and a certain number of things that are impossible. For instance, enough people who are knowledgable about such things accept the laws of physics that the general tenor of the world runs on it. As a mage, you define your own reality, but are constantly infringed upon by the general paradigm. So when you do something that goes against the accepted reality, the accepted reality bites back. Some times, this is minor, like summoning a lightning bolt to hit something in the middle of a thunderstorm on a mountainside, because it's possible in the accepted paradigm for that to happen, and you may get away with having a slight static charge for a while. Sometimes, however, the effect is major, like trying to summon a working Mobile Suit out of thin air. Yeah, you'll get the Gundam, but it will probably fall out of the sky and land on you. :D

On top of this, the Technocracy, which is a big organization that in a nutshell enforces the general paradigm of humanity to keep them nice calm chattle and not notice the true horror of reality, is out to get you, and they are some bad motherfuckers. In fact, so bad, that I believe that the Mage story line ended with their total victory over the Mages.

Out of all of them, I'd just as soon be a Changling. They've got issues, but not like the others do. :)

Urgh, LARPers...

I play WoD games regularly as part of our regular gaming sessions, as well as HKAT, WHFRP, CP2020, CheapAss Games and others.

I've done both and happen to like LARPing more than table top stuff. It's more fun and engaging, in my opinion.

There is only one cool group of vampires, and those are the Setites. Those are some smooth classy bloodsuckers right there. The rest need some serious Gehenna action to thin out their ranks a little. :)

I did this twisted SW/B5/WOD crossover rping session with a friend once - no rules, just the two of us - that involved vampires from the Babylon 5 era ending up in the Star Wars galaxy for some reason that was never clearly explained. I played a Setite who'd been elected to the New Republic's Senate, among other characters.
