Sounds like Anarchy Online.
I bought it because the hype and I did give it a fair shot.
But after a really bad crashprone session I got into a rage and broke my keyboard with my fist.
After that I hate MMORPG's with a passion.
Give me the old telnetbased muds any day!

When you look at a game like UO you have 3000 players or so on-line who do you think is maintaining the servers for these games and what with? As far as i'm concerned £7.00 a month to play a cracking game is fair enough. The reason you pay is becasue the game just keeps growing. You pay £30.00 for a one player game and you play it to a finish and forget about it, i do anyway. But games like Ultima On-line and Everquest just keep you playing.
Age of shadows killed uo. But then i was a Rabid pk/anti-pk

.. Made me begin to hate mmo's after it came out.
though i may give galaxies a shot if a few of my friends do also. I hate starting out in a game like that w/o any friends.. makes newbieness not fun at all.

Damn straight! Every once in a while I go back to MUDs, and they're great. My fav is
Aetolia, The Midnight Age.
