Not to be contrary which means that 99% of you can guess what my next phrase will be already but don't. The best thing you can do for yourself is to hold an honest picture in your mind about the entire relationship so you won't repeat past mistakes. From what little I know about your relationship there weren't many of those at all, but possesive friends can be a pretty significant problem.

Anyway, sincerest condolances, and I wish you a speedy recovery. As I know all too well, the housekeeping at heartbreak hotel is shit.

I've been there too IB, I still love my ex-fiancee, or at least still care about her. As much as she hurt me I still do, funny huh?

Poor Girl. As a veteran of several breakups, I just want to say I hope you can get back on your feet soon. It's awful hard to judge when to get out into the world and start seeing other people again, but that time will come. Just hold together, and keep faith in yourself.

Bah... :( I know someone who's going through exactly the same thing, and I hate how the only thing that we can say in these scenarios is either to express condolences or to spout practical yet not emotionally helpful advice... :(

Innerbrat, somewhere out there is a man who will love you and care for you and stand by you, and you will find him someday. In the meantime, I hope you have female friends you can commiserate with in real life.

Not only does time heal all wounds, but time wounds all heels.
He seems to have chosen pleasure over happyness.
A classic mistake of most young men. It will only be far later in time, far fewer hairs on his head if/when he figures it out. There is a bit of popular western culture that is disturbing. Eternal youth, of the man/boy male.
Remember the term, "family man?" It is statisticly proven that men live longer, are happier and more healthy in a commited relatonship, yet the grass is always greener, and the boys want to go out.

He will regret leaving you, when he grows up, or old. (Whichever comes first, 40, or wisdom.)

Do not expect to ever get completely over him, as he's your first true love. You will love again, but it will never be the same. EVERY time it will be different.
You will miss him at least half as long as you were together.YEARS.

Be on alert for him coming crawling back to you, 6 months to 2 years, when the boys are not enough, and the empty spot in his life you filled can't be distracted by partying and playing. Pleasure and happyness are not the same, and the happyness leaving makes you a bit manic in your prsiut of pleasure. After all, it's all he has now. DON'T let him back, without changes! Like you come first, buddies second. Remember this, when you get a new bo'!

Will he be mature enough to see what he lost IN TIME? (Tick tock)

If he comes back, will you take him back, with no NEW conditions?Like you taking priority over his mates. If not, look for him to dump you again when bored, or under peer pressure.

How long are you willing to wait?(If at all)

Worst case scenario, he is a selfish prick, never cared for you as much as you cared for him, and you were convenient. I have met many a man so selfish, they couldn't fall in love, in the true form. My theory about him. Men can sleep with a woman for years, and never fall in love. They get comfortable with them, and love them like pets or relatives. Never truely CARING about their women, because they are selfish. When women sleep with men, and have orgasms, their brains release a hormone assosiated with love. Not true of the male. Love can be blinding, and women naturaly assume the man they are with cares just as much as they do.
If he cares more for nights out with the boys than not seeing you cry, you are best off without him, reguardless of the pain you feel now. Imagine him pulling this shit in 10 years!

ALL of the 3 women I chose not to marry for the sake of my truncated military carrer, are major regrets. They loved me far more than the army ever could, and I didn't even get my career. Only now, years later I realise what a strategic blunder following a purely tactical doctrine like that is.

Innerbrat, I'm sorry. You'll find who and what you deserve: somone who loves and respects you. One thing I have learned from your time on this board is you deserve respect-- any guy would have to be a fool to pass you by or neglect you.

Well, or he may be gay, but that's another story. You know what I mean.

Take time off and when you feel ready, head on out again into the world of love. Keep your standards high and you'll win n the long run.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

*hugs* Sorry to hear that. Breakups always cause a lot of pain for while. You'll get through it. Just spend some time with your other friends if for no other reason than to convince yourself that they're there. That helped me a lot.

That's rough. Did things move quickly in the relationship or did you ease into it?

We met at a student rock night on a saturday, had our first kiss at another Union's rock night on the Tuesday, had our first date on the Wednesday.

He told me he loved me before we'd been seeing each other for two weeks, and before we'd had sex (which we had a couple of days later)
